Grasshopper Manufacture Inc., the studio behind the No More Heroes series headed by\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Goichi Suda aka Suda51, has been acquired by NetEase Games.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n This acquisition comes as NetEase continues its growth by way of acquisitions and partnerships, with the company obtaining a <\/span><\/span>minority stake in Quantic Dream<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>, a stake in Bungie, and more, over the past few years. Grasshopper Manufacture is the latest to join NetEase\u2019s lineup.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n Click here to watch embedded media<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cAs we all know, NetEase Games has developed many excellent games in the past, and I have long been aware of NetEase\u2019s creative capabilities,\u201d Suda said in a <\/span><\/span>press release<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> about the announcement. \u201cWhen talking with NetEase about \u2018developing more unique console games together,\u2019 we resonated. After a lot of thoughts, we\u2019ve unanimously decided to \u2018get together\u2019 in the long term through deeper cooperation to create more good content for gamers.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Suda said NetEase understands the strengths of Grasshopper Manufacture and is willing to support the studio in an \u201cextremely reliable\u201d way. He also said NetEase will be primarily responsible for advising Grasshopper Manufacture on the studio\u2019s business planning and funding for game development.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe will be responsible for the creativity and production of games to ensure that we are able to continue to maintain the consistent \u2018Grasshopper Manufacture flavor\u2019 and game quality for which we are known,\u201d Suda writes. \u201cIn addition, we will also receive strong support from the NetEase team composed of thousands of artists and technical experts in terms of game art and quality assurance.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Grasshopper Manufacture has been with GungHo Online Entertainment since 2013, but moving forward, Grasshopper Manufacture\u2019s home will be NetEase.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n For more about the studio, check out our thoughts on its latest game in <\/span><\/span>Game Informer\u2019s <\/span><\/span><\/span>No More Heroes 3 review<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>.
