The plan was to reconvene in early 2022 as an online-only event, dubbed BlizzConline, but the company has also decided to postpone that event.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside>It is important to keep in mind what is going on within Activision Blizzard at this time regarding ongoing allegations about the work culture. The ongoing lawsuit from the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) against the company is over reported toxic workplace culture. The bulk of the suit focuses on &#8220;violations of the state&#8217;s civil rights and equal pay laws,&#8221; specifically regarding the treatment of women and other marginalized groups. To learn more about the proceedings thus far, including details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please check out our previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/07\/22\/lawsuit-document-against-activision-blizzard-details-a-long-history-of-harassment-and\" >coverage here<\/a>.<\/aside>\n<p>In a letter to fans (<a href=\"https:\/\/news.blizzard.com\/en-us\/blizzcon\/23738004\/reimagining-blizzcon?utm_source=twitter&#038;utm_campaign=web-us-mobilewebnews&#038;utm_content=23738004&#038;utm_medium=social-post\" >which you can read here<\/a>), Blizzard explains it would rather devote its resources to working on its current slate of projects, which we know includes Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt this time, we feel the energy it would take to put on a show like this is best directed towards supporting our teams and progressing development of our games and experiences.\u201d reads the letter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Blizzard is also looking to evolve the event as a whole to find new and\/or better ways of bringing its fans together. The company also says it wants to focus on making the event feel as \u201csafe, welcoming, and inclusive as possible.\u201d This particular promise feels like a response to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EcqY40Kx2RY\" >recently resurfaced video<\/a> from a World of Warcraft live Q&#038;A from BlizzCon 2010. A female player asked the all-male panel of developers if the game\u2019s cast of women could wear less revealing clothing, to which she was openly mocked by the employees (which included the now-ousted president, J. Allen Brack).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Blizzard ends the letter by reassuring fans that new announcements for current and upcoming games will still occur. Just don\u2019t necessarily expect to hear about them during the timeframe BlizzConline would have happened.<\/p>\n<p>As many of us likely know, Activision Blizzard has spent the last few months battling multiple state and federal lawsuits over its abusive workplace culture, particularly its treatment of female and marginalized employees. The company recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gameinformer.com\/2021\/09\/28\/activision-blizzard-and-eeoc-reach-agreement-to-settle-lawsuit-for-18-million\">agreed to a settlement<\/a> with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
