You can watch the six-minute animation in its entirety below.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameBorder=\"0\"  allow=\"autoplay\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_gjszHTDjzo\" width=\"\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the trailer, Knuckles provides a voice-over explanation of his background up until now, including the fact that he was tasked with guarding the Master Emerald, a relic that hasn\u2019t appeared in the Sonic series for quite some time. The trailer ends with Knuckles absolutely demolishing some robots, and while we\u2019ve received no indication that he will be playable in Sonic Frontiers, that sequence makes me hope he will be.<\/p>\n<p>Knuckles has been a core Sonic character for most of the franchise\u2019s existence, so it\u2019s not surprising that he\u2019s making an appearance in the blue blur\u2019s latest adventure. While this animated prologue gives us insight into how he wound up on the island, it\u2019s still not entirely clear why, especially when it comes to the appearance of Sage (a new character introduced in Sonic Frontiers) at the end of the trailer. We\u2019ll have to wait for the full game to find out.<\/p>\n<p>The past month has been full of Sonic news. We got a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=9speNR0DGi0\" >December 14 release date for <em>Sonic Prime<\/em><\/a>, Sonic Frontiers got a trailer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=XET9s-9PLas\" >confirming Super Sonic would be playable in the game<\/a>, and we learned that the Sonic series has sold <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gamesindustry.biz\/sonic-the-hedgehog-series-has-sold-15bn-copies\" >over 1.5 billion copies worldwide<\/a>.
