BlizzCon is officially canceled. After much uncertainty due to the current state of things with COVID-19, executive producer Saralyn Smith finally made things official today on Blizzard’s website.<\/p>\n

Smith said she and her\u00a0team evaluated many different paths to potentially make the show work within the\u00a0national and local health guidelines, but with still so much uncertainty, there just wasn’t an ideal solution for having the show go forward as planned.\u00a0“We’re feeling deeply disappointed about this decision,” she said in a blog post.<\/p>\n

While the show is canceled, Smith said the team is searching for ways to celebrate Blizzard, perhaps in an online venue. “We\u2019re talking about how we might be able to channel the BlizzCon spirit and connect with you in some way online, far less impacted by the state of health and safety protocols for mass in-person gatherings,” she wrote. “We\u2019d want to do this as soon as we could, but given that this is new-ish territory and the different factors involved, it will most likely be sometime early next year.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The show has been running since 2005, and the only two years without\u00a0Blizzcons were\u00a02006 and 2012.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
