Said retailer then said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/08\/03\/marvels-avengers-spider-man-ps4-exclusive-correction\/\">it had made a mistake<\/a>, and people calmed down a bit.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours later, Sony was like, &ldquo;hey, actually, that&rsquo;s totally true &ndash; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vg247.com\/2020\/08\/03\/spider-man-marvels-avengers-ps4\/\">we have Spidey and Xbox doesn&rsquo;t<\/a>&rdquo; (Disclaimer: that is a very liberal paraphrase).<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, Amos recently spoke at a small, virtual press gathering during which reporters were permitted to ask him questions about the controversy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/haameIDj2n0?feature=oembed\" alt=\"Please accept cookies to see this iframe.\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Because of Sony&rsquo;s unique relationship with Marvel and PlayStation, that gives us an affordance with Spider-Man that we wouldn&rsquo;t have otherwise,&rdquo; Amos told a journalist from <a href=\"https:\/\/comicbook.com\/gaming\/news\/marvels-avengers-team-spider-man-playstation-exclusivity\/\"  rel=\"noopener\">Comicbook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That&rsquo;s something unique because of that relationship, but looking at the future we have cross-gen &ndash; PS4 to PS5 will work and Xbox to Xbox Series X will work, so cross-gen works.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;m not sure about you, but I&rsquo;m not sure what this is supposed to be getting at &ndash; does this mean Xbox players will be able to play with someone playing as Spider-Man, but not play as Spidey themselves? Who knows.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-679131\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/\/2018\/08\/spider-man-header-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"Spider-Man\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2018\/08\/spider-man-header-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2018\/08\/spider-man-header-156x88.jpg 156w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2018\/08\/spider-man-header-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2018\/08\/spider-man-header-1152x648.jpg 1152w, https:\/\/assets.vg247.com\/current\/2018\/08\/spider-man-header-231x130.jpg 231w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\"><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We wanted this to be something specific because of the unique relationship and partnership between Sony and our collaboration with Marvel,&rdquo; Amos said. &ldquo;Looking at future consoles and other announcements, we&rsquo;ll make them when it&rsquo;s time.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Amos went on to reiterate that PlayStation has the right to Spider-Man due to Sony&rsquo;s ownership of movie rights, and that Marvel and Sony decided that it was possible to collaborate in a way that brought Spidey to PS4 exclusively.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We love the idea of being able to bring this character to the PlayStation players and so as far as everybody goes, dude, we just announced Hawkeye less than a week ago, we have two characters announced within a matter of five days the future is bright,&rdquo; Amos said. I&rsquo;m not sure there are as many Hawkeye fans as Spidey stans, but maybe that&rsquo;s just me.<\/p>\n<p>Marvel&rsquo;s Avengers is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on September 4.
