The comment, which was apparently meant as an insult, claimed that vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris&#8217; voice sounded like Marge Simpson.<\/p>\n<p>Marge&#8217;s speech was quick and to the point, though not without <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/colin-baker-tom-baker-doctor-who\/\">throwing a subtle bit of\u00a0shade<\/a> at Ellis.\u00a0\u201cI usually don\u2019t get into politics,&#8221; she began, &#8220;but the president\u2019s senior advisor, Jenna Ellis, just said Kamala Harris sounds like me.\u201d (At this point, some viewers may have realized they&#8217;ve been pronouncing &#8220;Kamala&#8221; wrong this entire time.)\u00a0\u201cLisa says she doesn\u2019t mean it as a compliment,&#8221; Marge continued, sounding just a bit hurt by this news from her eternally 8-year-old daughter. Lisa is known on the show for being more socially aware than the rest of the family, so it would make sense for her to be the one\u00a0who breaks that unfortunate news to her mother.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/the-simpsons-original-aspect-ratio\/\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0How to Watch The Simpsons in its Original Aspect Ratio<\/strong><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf that\u2019s so,&#8221; Marge went on, &#8220;as an ordinary suburban housewife, I\u2019m starting to feel a little disrespected.\u00a0I teach my children not to name-call, Jenna.&#8221; The not-so-passive-aggression behind that last line dripped with an accusatory tone, before she added as an aside, &#8220;I was going to say I\u2019m pissed off, but I\u2019m afraid they\u2019d bleep it.\u201d That last comment is very much in character with Marge&#8217;s personality, as someone who often puts more stock in <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/deadly-premonition-2-director-apology\/\">avoiding offensive language<\/a> than other pressing issues.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheSimpsons\/status\/1294287342144872449\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It should come as little surprise to long-time\u00a0<em>Simpsons<\/em> fans to see Marge give her two cents on a real world event. The character famously wrote to former First Lady Barbara Bush in 1990 regarding comments calling\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/vans-the-simpsons-clothes-shoes\/\"><em>The Simpsons<\/em><\/a> &#8220;the dumbest thing I&#8217;ve ever seen.&#8221; Marge is also known on the show for being soft-spoken but defensive of her family. However, this video response appears to be a bit less about defending her family&#8217;s integrity and more about calling out the attempted insult for being ill-conceived and childish.<\/p>\n<p>A response like this tends to hit extra hard coming from Marge, since she is widely seen as one of the kindest fictional characters on television (<a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/the-simpsons-worst-things-marge-ever-done\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">with perhaps a few exceptions<\/a>). So being called out specifically like this means somebody has really messed up. While Marge is far from the first to fire back about Ellis&#8217; comments, her motherly disapproval makes her open reply feel much more weighted than\u00a0most.<\/p>\n<p>So perhaps there&#8217;s a lesson to be learned here.\u00a0It&#8217;s probably best for people to leave Marge Simpson out of their\u00a0petty attacks. She has (or at least her writers have) <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/dragon-ball-z-kw-miller-criticism-anime\/\">no time for your negativity<\/a>.
