A <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-season-6-trailer-rampart-gameplay-abilities\/\">new trailer was released yesterday highlighting gameplay<\/a> fans can expect in the new season, but one particular moment in the trailer caught the ire of some fans, to the point where someone from developer Respawn actually had to respond.<\/p>\n<p>The new season of <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/apex-legends\/\">Apex Legends<\/a><\/em> looks to be bringing a lot to the game, including the new charming legend, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-rampart-outland-stories-animation\/\">Rampart, whose recent \u201cStories From the Outlands\u201d trailer<\/a> explained how she became involved in the Apex games. Rampart boasts an energy wall that acts as one-way bullet shield for her and her teammates, as well as an enormous turret gun she lovingly refers to as Sheila. The new gameplay trailer also introduced some other new things, such as the ability to craft weapons and items from a new kind of mid-match drop, and the new VOLT energy SMG.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-new-map-season-7\/\">Rumor: New Map May Be Headed to Apex Legends in Season 7<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One thing that won\u2019t be changing apparently though is the Havoc, the energy assault rifle that has been around <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/apex-legends-havoc-rifle-attachment\/\">since near <em>Apex Legend<\/em>\u2019s launch in February 2019<\/a>. The Havoc is a weapon that takes time to ramp up to its full rate of fire but deals quite a bit of damage once it does. The only trade off to the Havoc\u2019s power is that it has a bit of an erratic firing pattern. As most <em>Apex <\/em>fans know, pairing the Havoc with hip-firing is a recipe for not landing any hits. And as a recent post on the <em>Apex<\/em> <em>Legends <\/em>sub-Reddit points out, that doesn\u2019t seem to be changing in season 6.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/apexlegends\/comments\/i9pmjb\/nice_to_see_the_havoc_is_still_nerfed\/\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The post shows the Havoc rifle missing nearly a full magazine\u2019s worth of bullets while the legend firing is zip-lining towards their target. The post clearly must have struck a chord with fans, as the post garnered nearly\u00a03,000 upvotes, with many of the comments lamenting the Havoc\u2019s poor accuracy when firing from the hip. This blew up enough that a developer from Respawn chimed in with an insight into the team\u2019s design decisions.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Apex-Legends-Season-6-Havoc-hip-fire.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>The Respawn designer went into an explanation of how the team\u2019s goal is to have a balance between mobility and accuracy. They say that Respawn wants long-range weapons like sniper rifles to be too hard to fire from the hip to promote being stationary and want close-range weapons like pistols and SMGs to be fairly accurate from the hip to promote movement when appropriate for those weapons. That leaves assault rifles like the Havoc in the middle, where the ability to hip-fire and still be accurate is a little more balanced down the middle. The designer states this is also done to make weapons all stand out from one another.
