Originally a portable audio cassette player, the Walkman has been in continuous production since its release in 1979\u00a0in\u00a0various incarnations, playing CDs, MP3s, and now, a fully digital model that accommodates both streaming services and music files. It is even more fitting given the fame of <em>Final Fantasy 7<\/em>&#8216;s musical score, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-7-songs-remake-vs-original\/\">the <em>FF7 Remake<\/em>&#8216;s emphasis on remixing those tracks<\/a>, for better and worse.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xHiy4N3uiFI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for eager collectors, there is no word of a western release for this special edition Walkman. The media player also sold out almost immediately upon its release in Japan, and there is no word of a follow-up at this time. The demand is unsurprising given the game&#8217;s popularity, however.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-7-remake-sales\/\">The\u00a0<em>Final Fantasy 7 Remake<\/em> just passed 5 million sales worldwide<\/a>, giving Square Enix a financially successful year after a long rough patch.<\/p>\n<p>Those who have never experienced a\u00a0<em>Final Fantasy, <\/em>or even <em>Final Fantasy 7<\/em> specifically, may find the hype curious.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/tag\/final-fantasy-vii\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Xbox Game Pass\u00a0recently released the original Final Fantasy 7 on the service<\/a>, giving gamers a chance to see what the fuss is about.\u00a0One may still\u00a0wonder about the need for a digital media player in the age of smartphones, however.\u00a0Nostalgic allure and the desire for limited collectibles are likely stronger pulls than raw utility.<\/p>\n<p>Players who already started\u00a0their adventures in Midgar may want to take advantage of another promotional deal that recently became free to all users. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-remake-butterfinger-dlc-free\/\">Butterfingers&#8217;
