Xbox Live<\/strong>\u00a0is a key part of how players interact with the Xbox consoles. Whether players want to download new content or speak to friends, the online service allows players to use these features and it is completely free with every console. Xbox Live is currently holding a summer sale<\/a> that discounts over 400 games and if that wasn’t enough, some lucky Xbox users will also be able to redeem an extra $5 off their purchases.<\/p>\n

There have been discussions about Xbox Live Gold becoming free<\/a>, much like the standard version of the subscription. At the moment it seems that the ability to play with friends online will still cost players extra, and the expansive Xbox Game Pass service remains completely separate. While many players will hope these changes and the services available on Xbox become incorporated, the offer of additional finance on the Live service may tempt players to try out additional services.<\/p>\n

In terms of redeeming the credit, players simply need to check their Xbox Live<\/a> accounts through their Xbox or mobile device and they may find a message from Xbox. Opening the message will allow players to easily redeem the $5 and spend it on games or services. It seems that the Live service is set to stay as an independent entity<\/a> from other subscriptions available on the Xbox and with that in mind, many will appreciate the additional funds that are being offered as they can spend the money on trying promotional offers of Xbox Gold or Xbox Game Pass.<\/p>\n

Many players will hope that they can access similar offers as the significant Xbox Summer Sale<\/a> continues until August 24. However, some players will just have to settle with the discounts on offer, as the extra credit only seems to be available to certain players following a randomly allocated distribution method.<\/p>\n
