Leaks, rumors, and speculation are common for just about every video game\u00a0property, but Nintendo has been the subject of a few high-profile examples in recent months. Fans are still waiting to hear whether Nintendo confirms long-rumored\u00a0Switch remasters of Super Mario<\/em> games<\/a>\u00a0purportedly\u00a0in development for the plumber’s 35th anniversary this year, and yesterday an Amazon\u00a0listing suggested\u00a0The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<\/em><\/strong> will also be coming\u00a0to Switch.<\/p>\n

However, the Amazon UK listing for Skyward Sword<\/em> on Switch<\/a>\u00a0has since been removed, leading to an error page for anyone who tries to access it. While there was no guarantee the listing would lead to anything, especially given it offered few details beyond the game existing, the fact it was quickly removed after gathering steam could be taken as a sign that Nintendo let the cat out of the bag too soon.<\/p>\n

Series Producer Eiji Aonuma has teased a Switch port of Skyward Sword<\/em><\/a> in the past, and it seems likely the game will happen\u00a0eventually. Nintendo released two\u00a0Legend of Zelda<\/em>\u00a0remasters\u00a0on the Wii U:\u00a0Wind Waker\u00a0HD<\/em> and Twilight Princess HD<\/em>. With the series’ 35th anniversary coming next year, there is ample opportunity for the developer to bring\u00a0its popular titles to Switch, a system that has been much more\u00a0successful than its predecessor.<\/p>\n

To say the Switch has only\u00a0been more successful than the Wii U is an understatement, as it was recently confirmed the Nintendo Switch has outsold the original NES<\/a>. A number of Zelda<\/em> games have been huge sellers on the console, including Breath of the Wild<\/em>, Link’s Awakening<\/em>, and Cadence of Hyrule<\/em>, with Nintendo confirming Breath of the Wild 2<\/em> is in development during E3 2019.<\/p>\n

Though Skyward Sword<\/em><\/a> is a controversial Zelda<\/em> game due to its linear story, over-reliance on motion controls, and hand-holding companion Fi, Skyward Sword<\/em>\u00a0has a beautiful\u00a0art style and offers a lot to the series’ lore. Nintendo continues to release Wii U ports, such as the\u00a0upcoming Pikmin 3 Deluxe<\/em>, so it would be interesting\u00a0to see them work on\u00a0some Wii games too.<\/p>\n

That being said, leaks and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, no matter how likely they seem. For example, code was recently found that suggests Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time<\/em> will also come to Switch<\/a> after it releases on other consoles, but it’s hard to say for certain until a developer confirms.<\/p>\n

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<\/strong><\/em> is available exclusively on Wii.<\/p>\n
