Rare’s upcoming return to the Battletoads<\/strong><\/em> franchise is looking to bring the style of the original game, with its legendary difficulty back with a brand new title. Looking at that difficulty as a challenge for players to overcome, Rare has released the achievements list for when Battletoads<\/em> launches on Xbox One and PC<\/a>, detailing a number of challenges that players can complete.<\/p>\n

This achievement list has been released alongside a statement from Rare Lead Designer Paul Collins, who elaborates on the development process and goals of the new Battletoads<\/em><\/a> title. Similarly, this has been shared on the official Rare Twitter account, almost seeming to taunt players with how difficult completing all of these achievements will be for anyone attempting to make it through Battletoads<\/em>‘ return to classic platforming<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The list itself is fairly expansive, including the regular challenges that players can expect from most titles these days, such as finishing the levels throughout Battletoads<\/em>, as well as finding collectibles. However, getting the 1000 gamerscore, a showing of having obtained 100% achievements on Xbox Live<\/a> for any specific game, will require more than simply making it to the credits or picking up a few extra collectibles. Some hint at utilizing hidden tactics during certain encounters, or completing levels with a specific level of challenge, such as aiming for an S-rank on some of the game’s hardest levels.<\/p>\n

From the way Collins describes some of these achievements, as well as a look at the design of Battletoads<\/em><\/a> as a whole, it seems as though some of these challenges are built specifically to mess with players. One, in particular, that seems to really be testing players’ abilities is an achievement titled Dodgebrawl Champion, where the player will need to finish a fight without taking any damage at all. This, of course, isn’t the only difficult challenge among these achievements, and it looks like getting the 1000 gamerscore is going to be a real test of skill \u2014 and maybe a little patience.<\/p>\n

Fans of the original game, as well as new fans coming to check out the new Battletoads<\/em><\/a>, have a fairly intimidating experience ahead of them, and going for all of these achievements is likely going to be quite the ordeal. While a good number of players will likely ignore some of the more difficult challenges, this list looks like it will give completionists plenty to work on for some time. So, looking at the fan base that has centered around this series in the past, Rare is at least attempting to give an experience that pleases fans through the regular game as well as these additional challenges.<\/p>\n

Battletoads<\/strong><\/em> is set to launch on August 20th, for PC and Xbox One.<\/p>\n
