Ghost of Tsushima\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>fans are in an uproar at the moment as a result of Sucker Punch’s surprise announcement of\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima: Legends<\/em><\/a>. With the promise of a Fall 2020 release date, fans seem thrilled to get a chance to play new content with friends in the upcoming cooperative game mode. Though nothing more has been shared than the original announcement, a lot can be gleaned from what Sucker Punch revealed that should help fans set their expectations at a reasonable level. From what fans do already know, most would agree that Fall 2020 couldn’t come sooner.<\/p>\n

For the most part,\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>was received with acclaim from both critics and fans. The game has a thriving and supportive community, but many players assumed that it wouldn’t be getting DLC for quite some time if at all. This sudden announcement of a free content update which introduces three new game modes and cooperative multiplayer functionality seemed to come out of nowhere, but it shows that Sucker Punch truly plans on maintaining this game for the long run and growing alongside the fanbase. Though the announcement only came recently, speculation has already began to run wild.<\/p>\n

The biggest takeaway from the reveal trailer is obviously the fact that it supports four player multiplayer.\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima\u00a0<\/em>is wholeheartedly a story focused game, and few would have predicted a multiplayer expansion of this scale to be released. Despite this, Sucker Punch did say Ghost of Tsushima\u00a0<\/a><\/em>multiplayer is a possibility<\/a>, and here it is now.\u00a0It seems that players will have access to four classes, from left to right: Assassin, Samurai, Hunter, and Ronin. Each of these classes will have their own unique abilities and progression, and players will need to make the most out of their own toolkit while working together with teammates to defeat their enemies.<\/p>\n

The other standout announcement is the supernatural elements involved with this expansion.\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/em> shies away from supernatural elements<\/a> for the most part, choosing instead to stick with a historically rooted setting and story to provide more realism, but\u00a0Legends\u00a0<\/em>does not subscribe to that same approach. Players will be facing off against beasts from Japanese folklore and may even have supernatural abilities of their own. The Oni, a sort of magical ogre-like beast, has already been confirmed as an enemy, but other mythical Japanese creatures like the\u00a0Y\u014dkai (demons) or the Tengu (like the one faced in the Mythic Tale for the Longbow) could make appearances.<\/p>\n

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends\u00a0<\/em>has also revealed three new game modes that players will have access to this fall. The first announced mode is a two-player co-op campaign, which promises that players will need to use their knowledge of the single player campaign’s combat while synchronizing with their partner to overcome new supernatural enemies. With that in mind, players should probably beat <\/a>Ghost of Tsushima<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>before trying this mode. The second mode which Sucker Punch announced is a survival mode that can be played with four players. This will see players pitted against increasingly difficult enemies including the aforementioned new enemy type, the Oni.<\/p>\n

Finally, if players are able to beat both of these modes, they will gain access to a four player raid. This game mode will most likely be the most difficult of the three, as it will have players face off with a new terrifying enemy. Sucker Punch did confirm that this mode won’t release until shortly after\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima: Legends\u00a0<\/em>does, but other than that, there isn’t much information on it. It will be interesting to hear more information about Ghost of Tsushima: Legends<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>soon, and where Sucker Punch will take the game in the future moving forward.<\/p>\n
