For those interested in breaking into <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-vgc-competitive-battling-breakdown\/\"><em>Sword<\/em> and <em>Shield<\/em>&#8216;s competitive battling<\/a>, The Pokemon Company is offering a free &#8220;battle-ready&#8221; monster through Mystery Gift this weekend for anyone who watches the Players Cup Finals.<\/p>\n<p>This online battling tournament has been going on throughout the summer, and yesterday The Pokemon Company announced that anyone\u00a0who views\u00a0matches airing at 11:00 a.m. PDT on August 22 and 23 can receive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/pokemon-home-guide-mystery-gifts\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mystery Gift passcodes<\/a> that offer\u00a0a Porygon2 trained to make use of Trick Room strategies. This code will only work through August 31, so those who are interested in the VGC should jump at the chance to receive an infamously effective\u00a0Pokemon with speed-altering shenanigans that can take\u00a0advantage of the Eviolite item for defensive buffs.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-sales-update\/\">Pokemon Sword and Shield Hit Impressive Sales Milestone<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Other battle-trained\u00a0monsters\u00a0have been offered to viewers\u00a0throughout the Players Cup. <em>Pokemon<\/em> fans\u00a0were able to receive a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-sword-shield-shiny-amoonguss-code\/\">free shiny Amoonguss in <em>Sword<\/em> and <em>Shield<\/em><\/a> via a Korean Mystery Gift code earlier this month, one that had\u00a0moves modeled after a Pokemon\u00a0used during the competition.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/playpokemon\/status\/1295433812961308672?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, <em>Sword<\/em> and <em>Shield<\/em> are not the only <em>Pokemon<\/em> games prominently featuring the Normal-type evolutionary line which spans\u00a0from Generation 1 to Generation 4. Niantic&#8217;s AR mobile game <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-porygon-community-day-trending-why\/\"><em>Pokemon GO<\/em> may have Porygon as a Community Day spotlight<\/a> for September or October, as fans took to social media with a lot of love for the digitally-interfacing Pokemon compared to its competition.<\/p>\n<p>Porygon has also been showcased in DeNA&#8217;s mobile game <em>Pokemon Masters<\/em>, which introduced the &#8220;Poryphone&#8221; smart device that allows trainer to activate their signature sync moves, a powerful attack that raises the stats of a player&#8217;s entire team. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-masters-ex-first-anniversary-updates-events\/\"><em>Pokemon Masters<\/em> recently announced it will\u00a0change its name<\/a>,\u00a0host a few special events, and introduce a new game mode to celebrate its\u00a0first anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>The latest <em>Pokemon<\/em> games on Nintendo Switch have been the first to feature DLC, with The Crown Tundra slated to release later this year. However,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-sword\/\"><em>Sword<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-shield\/\"><em>Shield<\/em><\/a> have also kept players coming back through Wild Area events and periodic Mystery Gifts.
