It\u2019s been a few months since the remake of Final Fantasy VII<\/i><\/a> came out and there is one question on the minds of fans right now. When will the next game be coming out? Square Enix has kept a pretty tight lid on any news other than their upcoming Destiny<\/i> like take on Marvel\u2019s Avengers<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Will news of a sequel drop after that? It\u2019s hard to say but in the meantime there is a lot of Final Fantasy VII<\/i> content to eat up. However, it\u2019s not as easy to play some titles like Zack\u2019s prequel adventure on PSP which remains trapped on the system. So if one is dying to know the important details of his past which may affect the future remakes, here is a breakdown.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

10 <\/span>The Timeline<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Crisis Core<\/i> takes place seven years before the events of Final Fantasy VII<\/i><\/a>. The first part of the game plays around with Zack\u2019s three years in the SOLDIER program.\u00a0This includes a major series of incidents which will be further explained later on. After that, there is a time jump of four years between\u00a0Zack\u00a0& Cloud getting captured and put in a lab.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>The War With Wutai<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The game itself begins similarly to Final Fantasy VII<\/i><\/a> wherein Zack rides a train into Midgar. Instead of bombing a reactor, Zack is actually trying to stop invading Wutai soldiers from doing so. The Wutai War opens up the game, but it is barely fleshed out. Wutai, as a more prominent city, is shown off along with a younger Yuffie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Angeal And Genesis<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The major plot of the game revolves around two new characters, Genesis and Angeal, who are also legendary SOLDIERS. Genesis seemingly goes crazy and Zack\u00a0& Angeal\u00a0are forced to stop him which then leads to Angeal turning and Sephiroth taking up command. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Oh, and there are clones involved too. It\u2019s very complicated, but the one thing that should be taken away is that the Buster Sword was once Angeal\u2019s before being passed down to Zack.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Zack And Aerith<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

This is touched on in Final Fantasy VII<\/i><\/a>, but Zack and Aerith dated. Not only that, but Zack actually influenced her character quite a bit. He bought\u00a0Aerith her iconic pink ribbon along with giving her the idea that she should sell flowers. She wears white in the game but Zack tells her the next time they meet that she should wear pink. Unfortunately he disappears for fours years, so the next time they meet is through Cloud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>The Turks<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Besides Reno, Rude, and Tseng, there is a new member of the Turks introduced, Cissnei. She was actually one of the leads in Before Crisis<\/em>, which focused primarily on the Turks and takes place before, during, and after\u00a0Crisis Core<\/em>. It is never explained what happened to her\u00a0& some of the other Turks other than they went into hiding. It is possible then that Cissnei may appear in one of the remake sequels to Final Fantasy VII<\/i><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>The Nibelheim Incident<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The section in Final Fantasy VII <\/i><\/a>where Sephiroth goes crazy at Nibelheim, burns it, and tries to get Jenova out of the reactor is played mostly the same, albeit tweaked. For example, Genesis is seen almost as a guiding evil light for Sephiroth. On top of that ,when Cloud overpowers Sephiroth, he throws him down the shaft in Jenova\u2019s room rather than the hallway a few rooms down. There is also new dialogue, but for the most part it stays true to the original.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Summons Are More Than Summons<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Just like in the film, Advent Children<\/em>, Summons are more than just spells. Somehow, Genesis has the ability to turn them into bosses. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Since the Sephiroth triplets can do\u00a0this in the movie, it can be assumed that Jenova\u2019s Cells activate some latent ability.\u00a0Zack ends up fighting multiple Summons in this manner over the course of\u00a0Crisis Core<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Aerith\u2019s Fears<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

At the end of the remake for Final Fantasy VII<\/i><\/a>, Aerith talks about how she doesn\u2019t like the open sky, which led some fans to speculate as to why. Well, either they didn\u2019t play this game or they forgot certain parts of the plot. Aerith actually talks about being afraid of the sky outside Midgar to Zack. This is because she was raised in a world without an artificial sky. This is a small piece of the story to note on but since it appears in Crisis Core<\/i> and in the remake, it’ll be relevant moving forward. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>The Fate Of Genesis<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

After Zack defeats Genesis for the final time and leaves him under his favorite tree to presumably die, he gets picked up by two mysterious SOLDIERS only seen from the neck down. Based on their voices, one can deduce that they belong to\u00a0Nero and Weiss who are the leaders of Deepground. That is the organization at play in Vincent\u2019s solo game, Dirge of Cerberus<\/i>. It was seemingly put in to set up the sequel, which actually came out before this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>How It Ends<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The game ends with Zack dying, albeit in a more dramatic fashion. In Final Fantasy VII<\/a>, <\/i>Zack is silently gunned down with no fanfare.\u00a0In\u00a0Crisis Core<\/em>,\u00a0Zack cuts through hundreds of Shinra infantrymen until\u00a0he finally falls. Cloud also\u00a0notices that Zack is dying, thanks him, says he will never forget, and then walks away.\u00a0Unfortunately,\u00a0Cloud literally forgets this encounter right away as he’s overwhelmed with\u00a0his crazy case of mistaken identity. Maybe one of the remakes will explain this plot hole.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
