An impressive\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>datamine led by the self-proclaimed “PokeMiners” has been posted online. Their in-depth\u00a0breakdown of update 0.185.0 includes new in-game characters, badges, and a plethora of assets related to Mega Evolution.<\/p>\n

The main highlight of this\u00a0new update is, of course, the presence of Mega Evolutions.\u00a0PokeMiners\u00a0unearthed\u00a0so many Mega Evolution-related additions, that it would be unbelievable if Mega Evolutions didn’t arrive\u00a0to\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/a><\/em> in the very near future. These additions include (but are not limited to): Mega Raids, new Raid Battle music,\u00a0Mega Candy,\u00a0Mega Quests, Mega Evolution animations, and\u00a0new stat boosts for Mega-Evolved Pokemon. Players should make sure to\u00a0catch new Pokemon like Emolga<\/a> before Unova Week\u00a0ends and this next\u00a0set of updates takes the spotlight.<\/p>\n

Mega Evolution has been long-awaited in\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em>, but, especially after the mysteriously underwhelming\u00a0Magikarp Community Day, and rumors of a Pidgey-themed Event: players highly suspect\u00a0the arrival of Mega Evolution<\/a>. Although this\u00a0relatively new form of Evolution was introduced in\u00a0Pokemon X <\/em>and Y,\u00a0<\/em>it\u00a0continues to make appearances in the Pokemon games as new Mega Evolutions have been subsequently added. That said, recent games have shifted their focus towards Dynamax\/Gigantamax Evolution, so the state of Mega Evolutions has been rather\u00a0ambiguous\u00a0for some time now.<\/p>\n

As per\u00a0this\u00a0datamine, players are currently theorizing that Mega Evolutions will involve various components: Mega Raid Battles and Mega Candy indicate that players will probably receive some of these valuable candy from the aforementioned Raid Battles. Whether or not these Mega Raids function like standard Raid Battles, or like the Raid Battles found during in-game events<\/a> (i.e. the\u00a0ongoing Unova Week), is\u00a0currently\u00a0unknown.<\/p>\n

It would seem obvious that\u00a0players\u00a0should be able to use\u00a0these deep red candies to Mega Evolve their Pokemon, but the\u00a0inclusion\u00a0of Mega Quests is leading to further speculation. Perhaps there will be some sort of quest involved in Mega Evolving a Pokemon, but how Mega Quests will ultimately relate to Mega Candy and Mega Raids is\u00a0yet to be determined. There is also evidence that Mega Evolutions will be time-based; that is, players should expect their Pokemon\u00a0to revert to their\u00a0normal forms\u00a0after some time.<\/p>\n

Update 0.185.0\u00a0will also\u00a0usher in some delightful\u00a0quality of life improvements. Niantic already announced a makeup Dragon Week Timed Research<\/a> in light of recent bugs, but this update offers solutions\u00a0to some other hitches. Namely, the addition of a “refresh game data” button to the Settings menu, and\u00a0the\u00a0ability to manage Pokemon storage when entering a GO Rocket battle with\u00a0no inventory space. Players will also soon be able to swipe between profiles on their Friend List without backing out of each individual profile.\u00a0Needless to say, these small cosmetic changes pale in comparison to the\u00a0approaching\u00a0Mega Pokemon, but they’re appreciated nonetheless. The option to refresh game data should be particularly pleasant, as it’s intended as “a first troubleshooting step if Trainers experience inconsistent gameplay or strange app behavior.”<\/p>\n

Pokemon GO\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is available now on the App Store and Google Play.<\/p>\n
