Now, YouTube creator Mike Booth has recreated the original <em>ThunderCats<\/em> intro using the 3D animation software program\u00a0Blender.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the characters created by\u00a0Ted &#8220;Tobin&#8221; Wolf, The original <em>ThunderCats<\/em> series followed the exploits of cat-like humanoid aliens on the planet\u00a0Third Earth after they abandoned their\u00a0dying homeworld and evaded the\u00a0Mutants of Plun-Darr. Although the ThunderCats spent ten &#8220;galacto-years&#8221; in suspended animation before arriving on their adopted homeworld, the Mutants of Plun-Darr\u00a0were able to track them down and join forces with a sorcerer named\u00a0Mumm-Ra in order to retrieve the\u00a0Eye of Thundera, the\u00a0source of the ThunderCats&#8217; power.\u00a0The series consisted of four seasons and a TV movie before concluding in 1989.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/90s-cartoons-animaniacs-clone-high-ren-and-stimpy\/\">Four 90s Cartoons (and One from the &#8217;00s) Making a Comeback<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Mike Booth&#8217;s 3D version of the <em>ThunderCats<\/em> intro was made by using Blender&#8217;s MB-Labs plugin to create base models for the characters\u00a0Lion-o, Cheetara, Tygra, Panthro, WilyKit, and WilyKat. The lighting and smoke effects were created using\u00a0Adobe After Effects while the video was edited in\u00a0Premiere Pro. &#8220;The ThunderCats have been a love of mine since I can remember and the intro is something I thought would be a fun challenge to recreate and keep my interest while I was learning the software,&#8221; Booth said of the\u00a0decision to recreate the classic intro\u00a0in the description of his video.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SgonBJvVgsw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Although Booth stated that he has no intention of producing similar content for a few years, he did hint at plans to make a <em>ThunderCats<\/em> short film once the software can accommodate his ambitions.\u00a0&#8220;I will at some point make a ThunderCats short film, making use of some of the years of notes I&#8217;ve kept for a feature trilogy, but I&#8217;ll wait until the software reaches a point where I can film performance on my camera and just drag and drop it onto my 3D characters,&#8221; Booth explained. However, Booth made clear that his fan-made video was in no way <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/warnermedia-layoffs-at-hbo-warner-bros\/\">associated with Warner Bros.<\/a>, which currently owns the rights to <em>ThunderCats<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Since <em>ThunderCats<\/em> debuted, the original series has expanded into a multimedia franchise consisting of comics, video games, and two more animated shows.\u00a0A live-action <em>ThunderCat<\/em>s feature film\u00a0was reported to be in development in 2007 and although the project never materialized, <a href=\"https:\/\/screenrant.com\/thundercats-cgi-movie-footage\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">leaked\u00a0test footage for the adaption surfaced online<\/a> in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, Booth is only the latest in a long line of fans who have taken their favorite properties and recreated them on more modest budgets.
