However, Fall Guys<\/em><\/a> has come a long way from where it once was in its development cycle. In a recently posted Twitter thread, Mediatonic\u2019s creative director Jeff Tanton reveals a lot about the game\u2019s development and concept phase, including that it was going to have a completely different name.<\/p>\n

Even the development and social media team was surprised at the game\u2019s early success, as was evident through the game\u2019s initial server issues during its launch weekend. While those issues have somewhat been alleviated and the Fall Guys<\/em>\u2019 Twitter apologized for those issues<\/a>,\u00a0it\u2019s clear that Mediatonic was not prepared for the major amount of attention Fall Guys<\/em> is receiving. Tanton touches on this in his recent Twitter thread about the game\u2019s initial pitch, early concept, and subsequent development processes.<\/p>\n

Tanton\u2019s lengthy Fall Guys<\/em> Twitter<\/a> thread expounds on a myriad of fascinating details about how Fall Guys<\/em> evolved into what it is today, and also what the pitching process for games is like inside development studios. Tanton reveals early concepts for the actual Bean character designs as well as the fact that Fall Guys<\/em> initial had two different names: Fool\u2019s Gauntlet and Stumble Chums. Fool\u2019s Gauntlet was the name used in the initial pitch by Fall Guys<\/em>\u2019 lead designer Joe Walsh, while Stumble Chums was conceived late down the line.<\/p>\n
