Bungie has a huge task with the upcoming update to Destiny 2<\/em><\/strong> and the beginning of a\u00a0tremendous amount of sunsetting that will redefine the future of the series as it prepares to move onto next-gen consoles. One of the many changes Destiny 2<\/em> has coming<\/a> involves a new revamp for the unique PVE\/PVP game mode Gambit,\u00a0which will likely become much more crucial to the upcoming storylines in future updates.<\/p>\n

Announced in the most recent This Week at Bungie blog post, the Destiny 2<\/em><\/a> developer began to explain how Gambit will be changing when the next update launches in November. In the post, Bungie not only explains what is coming with the upcoming Beyond Light<\/em> expansion<\/a>, but how multiple game modes will be changed, from removing certain competitive options\u00a0to vaulting maps.<\/p>\n

The major change coming to Gambit is the combination of the basic mode with the newer Gambit Prime game mode that has gained popularity among fans recently. Essentially, the original Gambit will be leaving in Destiny 2: Beyond Light<\/a><\/em>, being replaced by the single round version of Gambit Prime with slightly altered Primeval bosses and an extended time per round. As a result, full Gambit matches will go by much faster, possibly with a heavier emphasis on the special Prime Armor that is unlockable through the Reckoning PVE game mode.<\/p>\n

Bungie didn’t elaborate completely on how this new Gambit mode is going to play out exactly, instead assuring fans that more information will be coming soon, likely in a future This Week at Bungie blog post. The current versions of Gambit Prime’s mechanics, like Prime Armor, or even the 100 mote rounds, may be changing to bridge the gap between the two game modes. However, Bungie does seem intent on making the new base version of Gambit a staple of Destiny 2<\/em>, as much of the upcoming lore hangs on the Drifter and the future of the game hangs heavily on Beyond Light<\/em>‘s success<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Destiny 2<\/em> fans have had a mixed relationship with Gambit since it released, thanks in part to a number of glitches and overpowered builds that can\u00a0make the competitive aspects of the game mode fairly disappointing. Regardless, there is still a fanbase for the unique game type where both PVE and PVP elements come together in a race to defeat both bosses and other players. So leaning heavily on Gambit and the associated NPC The Drifter could be how Bungie intends to bridge the gap of the two game types and expand the gameplay to help Destiny 2<\/em> stand above the competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n
