Although the full game doesn&#8217;t release today, it is an important day in the game&#8217;s development and fans have a lot to say online.<\/p>\n<p>The next game in the popular pro-basketball franchise, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/nba-2k21\/\">NBA 2K21<\/a><\/em>, has been generating a lot of buzz in fan communities, and a lot of the hype is culminating today. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nba-2k21-demo-release-date\/\"><em>NBA 2K21<\/em> demo released<\/a>\u00a0today at 7 AM PT for all consoles in the current gen, and fans downloading and playing the demo are having a\u00a0pretty mixed reaction.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nba-2k21-gameplay-trailer-2k-beach-college\/\">NBA 2K21 Gameplay Trailer Teases 2K Beach and More<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The current-gen demo is now live, and allows players to play with four teams, build their MyPlayer, and experience what 2K&#8217;s official Twitter calls &#8220;<em>2K21<\/em> gameplay innovations.&#8221; Plenty of people were and are excited about getting to play the demo, and there&#8217;s already been a ton of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/nba-2k21-everything-we-know-hope\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fan theories about what <em>NBA 2K21<\/em> will bring<\/a> to the series. One exciting new feature that most people are getting excited for is having both high school and college confirmed in MyCareer, however, not everyone has something positive to say.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBA2K\/status\/1297914242327171072\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nba-2k21-myteam-progress-ps5-xbox-series-x\/\"><em>NBA 2K21<\/em> is designed to transfer to next-gen consoles<\/a> easily, with the MyTeam progress having an option to carry over between game editions, and the Mamba Forever Edition giving players a way to avoid buying two copies of the game. However, there&#8217;s a fair amount of disappointment at the game&#8217;s creativity in the tag, and some players are\u00a0planning to cancel their Mamba Forever orders and opting to only buy the next-gen copy of the game when it releases.\u00a0The\u00a0NBA next-gen games will be more expensive, and the devs are pointing at the improved quality of next-gen consoles meaning players should have to pay more for a better experience. But most people want a genuinely new and exciting product if they&#8217;re gonna shell out this much money.<\/p>\n<p>Other people are criticizing <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nba-2k21-customization-affiliation-all-star-situations\/\">how similar <em>NBA 2K21<\/em> is to <em>2K20<\/em><\/a>, with some people complaining about the long wait in the PlayStation store to just get what they call a waste of GB. Some noted that the new soundtrack is fun, but the double-take reaction to people thinking they&#8217;d accidentally loaded up\u00a0<em>2K20<\/em> was pretty common.<\/p>\n<p>The reaction isn&#8217;t all bad, and some people enjoyed the opportunity to try out the updated mechanics and listen to some new music.
