However, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war\/\"><em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/a> reveal trailer has since been banned in China, with Activision uploading a new, shorter version that can still be viewed in the country.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by CharlieIntel, the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-cold-war-trailer\/\">original\u00a0<em>Black Ops Cold War<\/em> reveal trailer<\/a> features a 1 second clip of the Tiananmen Square massacre, an event in China&#8217;s history that the government heavily censors. That trailer has since been removed from the official <em>Call of Duty<\/em> YouTube channel by Activision in all countries, though is still viewable on other YouTube channels outside of China. As expected, the new version of the\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em>\u00a0trailer has the Tiananmen Square clip removed, likely as a way to appease China so gamers in the country can still watch the trailer.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-beta-pre-order-bonus\/\">Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta and Pre-Order Bonuses Leaked<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>Call of Duty<\/em> has never shied away from controversial topics, which has seen it face censorship in any other instances as well. The most recent example of this is when the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-ban-russia\/\">Russian PlayStation Store decided not to sell\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare<\/em><\/a>, due to some of the content found in that game&#8217;s single player campaign. Prior to that, Russia also banned\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2<\/em>, likely due to the controversial No Russian mission.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zsBRGCabaog?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see if\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> is censored any further. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-reveal-aug-26\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new\u00a0<em>Black Ops Cold War<\/em> trailer<\/a> is going to be released on Wednesday, August 26, which is expected to be the world premiere of the new game&#8217;s gameplay. After that,\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> is set to be featured during the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation, though it&#8217;s unclear exactly what aspect of the game will be shown off then.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead, it&#8217;s possible that\u00a0the\u00a0<em>Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em> campaign will have controversial content that may have to be censored for certain markets. After all, the new game is dealing with the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-black-ops-cold-war-yuri-bezmenov-who\/\">Cold War era<\/a>, and there are plenty of controversial events that happened during that time. It wouldn&#8217;t be the first time that a\u00a0<em>Call of Duty<\/em> game has been censored, and it almost certainly won&#8217;t be the last.<\/p>\n<p>If anything is censored in the game, it will likely be in the campaign. However, there will likely be a lot more to\u00a0<em>Black Ops Cold War<\/em> than just its campaign. Like usual,\u00a0<em>Black Ops Cold War<\/em> is expected to bring back the traditional\u00a0<em>Call of Duty<\/em> multiplayer experience, and it&#8217;s also rumored to have a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-zobies-reveal-when\/\">co-op Zombies mode<\/a> as well.
