The Game Boy&#8217;s library contributed to its longevity, from spawning blockbuster series like <em>Pokemon<\/em> to hosting accessories like 1998&#8217;s\u00a0<strong><em>Game Boy Camera<\/em><\/strong>, which was\u00a0recently brought into the 21st century with\u00a0a mount that makes it compatible with DSLR lenses.<\/p>\n<p>This 3D-printed mount design, uploaded to Thingiverse by user Herr_Zatacke on May 4, replaces the eyeball-shaped\u00a0lens of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/game-boy\/\"><em>Game Boy Camera<\/em><\/a> cartridge with a cone that connects to modern, digital lenses for more acute images. YouTube channel 3D Printor used this mod with a 70-200mm lens in a video uploaded August 18, which it says allowed the application to capture, &#8220;Some creamy retro photos at an insane 0.1 megapixels.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-games-game-boy\/\">10 of the Best Games for the Game Boy<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Because they were unable to acquire the Game Boy Printer device that accompanied Nintendo&#8217;s <em>Game Boy Camera<\/em>, 3D Printor had the image it\u00a0captured printed onto canvas so it could be hung up on the wall, and the results are impressive considering how old the technology is. Then again, even though the Game Boy and Game Boy Color have been discontinued for nearly two decades, a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/game-boy-color-powa\/\">new Game Boy title called <em>POWA!<\/em> is being released<\/a> this November, so the handheld\u00a0has not been entirely lost to history.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qvKy-yB8j3o?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Game Boy Camera<\/em> accessory has also retained relevancy in the age of digital cameras and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/iphone-case-looks-like-game-boy\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">smartphones with throwback Game Boy cases<\/a> thanks to individuals who have taken advantage of its\u00a0aesthetic quality. It has been used to create an art gallery of photos around\u00a0New York City, and one astronomy student has used it to capture images of the Moon through a telescope, according to a 2018 article by AV Club.<\/p>\n<p>While the\u00a0camera is a\u00a0more unique part of the Game Boy&#8217;s history, fans of the old-school handheld have taken on projects surrounding its main library of games as well. Last year, someone <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/new-super-mario-land-snes\/\">remade <em>New Super Mario Land<\/em> for the SNES<\/a>\u00a0using sprites from <em>New Super Mario Bros.<\/em> on the Nintendo DS.<\/p>\n<p>The design of the Game Boy itself has also been used in various projects over the years. One Polish fan of the device made a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/cyberpunk-2077-nintendo-game-boy-console-concept\/\">special-edition Game Boy concept based on <em>Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/a>.
