Today, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/call-of-duty-modern-warfare\/\"><em>Modern Warfare<\/em><\/a> fans have gotten a look at a new sniper possibly coming to the game in the sixth season of content.<\/p>\n<p>The R700 was a powerful sniper rifle in the original <em>Modern Warfare<\/em> game, with players making good use of the bolt action rifle in<em> Call of Duty 4<\/em> and <em>Modern Warfare: Remastered<\/em> lobbies. While not quite as popular as the M40A3, old school <em>COD<\/em> fans\u00a0will\u00a0be happy to\u00a0know that the R700 seems to be in the works for <em>Modern Warfare<\/em>, even if it is currently in an unfinished state. If the gun is as strong as it once was, it could definitely become a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-duty-modern-warfare-warzone-best-loadouts-guns-one-shot-insta-kill\/\">one-shot weapon in <em>Modern Warfare<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/modern-warfare-pro-reveals-powerful-ram-7-loadout\/\">Modern Warfare Pro Reveals Powerful RAM-7 Loadout<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Twitter user and leaker of unreleased <em>COD<\/em> material named BKTOOR tweeted out a few gameplay clips of the R700 today, featuring reloads of the weapon and shots being fired on <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-gunfight-tournament-verdansk-stadium-map\/\"><em>Modern Warfare\u2019s<\/em> new 2v2 map Stadium<\/a>. While the footage is not anything mindblowing, the weapon looks great visually and is clearly approaching a finished state. BKTOOR showed the weapon back at the start of August, but in today\u2019s clip the weapon seemed far more refined than in the original showcase.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BKTOOR_\/status\/1298297828536717312?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With now only the reload and bullet chambering noises missing, it&#8217;s highly likely that Infinity Ward is working actively on this weapon. It is hard to imagine\u00a0it would spend this much time on the R700 not to release it, so <em>Modern Warfare<\/em> fans can safely expect a release of the weapon at some point. It would fit nicely within the game\u2019s weapon lineup, joining\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-finn-lmg\/\"><em>Modern Warfare&#8217;s<\/em> new FINN LMG<\/a> as a powerhouse weapon for skilled players.<\/p>\n<p>While the weapon likely\u00a0won&#8217;t\u00a0drop\u00a0during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/call-of-duty-warzone-season-5-reloaded-games-of-summer\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Modern Warfare\u2019s<\/em> Days of Summer<\/a> event, any time after the event comes to an end should be fair game for the R700\u2019s release. One interesting thing to note about the weapon is that it lacks a scope within the leaked gameplay footage, which could indicate a release within the \u201cMarksman Rifle\u201d category as oppose to the \u201cSniper Rifle\u201d one. Typically, the option to take off the scope is only available for Marksman Rifles. The sniper scope could just be left out now and added later as part of the developers\u2019 testing, though.<\/p>\n<p>With <em>Call of Duty: Modern Warfare<\/em> only having four sniper rifles, and only <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/call-of-duty-modern-warfare-rytec-amr-sniper-rifle-unlock-how\/\">receiving one sniper post launch<\/a>, the R700 would be a great addition to the game.
