More than just buying furniture<\/a>, Nook Miles can be redeemed for Tickets that allow players to visit new islands through Island Tours\u2013 arguably the biggest gameplay contribution New Horizons <\/i>makes.<\/p>\n

Each island has its own unique theme, whether it’s a bamboo island, a trash island, or a shark island. Some islands also feature exotic fruits that players should take advantage of.<\/em><\/p>\n

With that in mind, as well as everything that has been uncovered about moving in new villagers and finding those precious dreamies, it’s even more important to\u00a0know as much as possible about Nook Miles Tickets and the islands they give players access to. Here are five additional things to consider when making trips.<\/em><\/p>\n

15 <\/span>Try Fishing<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The fish<\/a> found on mystery island tours are highly themed islands, which means that they’ll often spawn lots of the same kind of plants or critters. Some islands, like the trash island, allows players to fish for a lot of DIY items like boots, tires, and tin cans.<\/p>\n

So never neglect fishing when arriving on a mystery island. The types of fish or other\u00a0things\u00a0that the players can get say a lot about the island and can earn them some serious bells once they return home to sell or craft.<\/p>\n

Depending on the island, it’s also important to check the beaches. Almost every island will have a chance of spawning a bottle on the beach, which will contain a random DIY recipe. This is pretty crucial since the player’s home island<\/a> only spawns a maximum of two of them per day.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the beaches tend to have plenty of shells and coral\u00a0for crafting any of the brand new mermaid collection furniture, so make sure to pick those up too when traveling. The spawning rate of shells on the home island isn’t exactly fast during the day.<\/p>\n

13 <\/span>Shake Trees<\/h2>\n

The most important thing every player should do when visiting a mystery island<\/a> is to shake the trees. Make sure to only shake trees that don’t have any fruits on them. Moreover, there’s no point in shaking bamboo trees or any of the trees on an island where each is filled with exotic fruit.<\/p>\n

This is crucial because every island has a guaranteed tree that will drop a piece of random furniture or a decorative item. So basically, the player pays 2000 Nook Miles for this random piece of furniture, a potential villager, and all of the other natural resources. At the very least make sure to grab this piece of furniture before leaving an island.<\/p>\n

12 <\/span>Go For A Dive<\/h2>\n

The game introduced diving as a returning gameplay mechanic in one of the more recent updates. For the first few islands, it’s recommended to bring the wetsuit along since mystery islands have a higher chance of yielding rarer deep sea creatures than the player’s home island.<\/p>\n

Although many of the critters will still be the same, it’s worth checking the waters for at least the first few times the player visits mystery islands for the purpose of diving. Just check for any nearby bubbles and hop right in.<\/p>\n

11 <\/span>Save The Tickets<\/h2>\n

It might be tempting to hop on a plane and head over to a mystery island to catch tarantulas right this instant, but try to be patient and save those Nook Miles<\/a>. Considering Wilbur outright advises players to make sure they have everything they want to bring with them, it\u2019s understandable that some might want to over prepare by bringing backup tools. Especially for any villagers still using Flimsy Tools, this seems reasonable enough, but keep in mind that the goal of an Island Tour is to come back with as much stuff as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Naturally, backup tools take up space in your pockets best reserved for new fruit, bugs, or fish. Bring too many tools, and players will need to either deliberately break them or leave them behind. Realistically, nothing\u2019s going to break so long as you go in prepared.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Make Sure Tools Are Durable<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

On that note, this also means making sure every tool brought on an Island Tour is durable. There\u2019s nothing worse than breaking a tool shortly after landing and realizing that your hard earned Nook Miles Ticket has essentially gone to waste. It goes without saying, but think about how much a tool has been used before taking it along.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some tools sit in the inventory so long and see such infrequent use, that they\u2019re basically begging to break at inopportune times. 8 <\/span>Get The Pocket Upgrades Before Going On Island Tours<\/h2>\n

Tom Nook gives players their first Nook Miles Ticket rather early on\u2013\u00a0which is ultimately for the best as Island Tours are an important part of the gameplay loop that should be highlight as soon as possible\u2013 but when taking into consideration that Island Tours are filled with treasure, it\u2019s best to go with as many open pocket spaces as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

New Horizons <\/span><\/i>notably opens up the final pocket space from <\/span>New Leaf<\/span><\/i>\u2019s flimsy 16 to a whopping 40. Needless to say, making the most out of a Nook Miles Ticket absolutely requires purchasing both pocket upgrades. If either one is available to purchase, snag them immediately. They make a massive difference.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Save Fruit To Plant<\/h2>\n

Animal Crossing <\/span><\/i>and fruit go hand in hand. Fruit is arguably at the center of every villager\u2019s economy. They may not bring in the big bucks, but selling foreign fruit to Timmy is a fantastic way of making money. Especially for the players who have the foresight to plant their fruit. Since Island Tours are filled with potentially exotic fruit, players will be tempted to sell them as soon as they get back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead, plant them and one fruit will become three within days. Villagers<\/a> only need to plant a few different fruit trees to make the most out of their profit, too. Eventually, players will have a constant moneystream flowing in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Make Sure To Speak To Potential Villagers Three Times<\/h2>\n

Not only are Island Tours a fantastic way of making Bells, they\u2019re also one of the key ways of getting new villagers to move in. More often than not, players will find a villager somewhere on each island they visit. If you\u2019re not someone who talks to NPCs multiple times, become one as it\u2019s through dialogue that players can convince villagers to move to their island<\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Specifically, villagers need to be spoken to three times. The first to introduce themselves, the second to give further context to their character, and the third to offer players a chance to invite them to move into their island.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Be Prepared For Tarantula Island<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Worth noting, there are some consistent island patterns tied to Island Tours that pop up frequently. One notable one that players have started stumbling upon is Tarantula Island, which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like\u2013\u00a0an entire island literally infested with tarantulas. Keep in mind that tarantulas can sting players and render them briefly unconscious.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Should players navigate quietly and sneakily, however, it\u2019s possible to round up dozens upon dozens of tarantulas. These bad boys sell for 8000 Bells a piece, so it really only takes one successful visit to Tarantula Island to make a model out of a villager.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Strike Gold At Money Rock Island<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

As profitable as Tarantula Island can be, it\u2019s not exactly for the faint of heart and does require some decent effort on the player\u2019s part (along with a sturdy net, but you should\u2019ve already prepared that.) Thankfully, Tarantula Island isn\u2019t the only notable pattern that\u2019s been popping up: Money Rock Island is another good one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Should players find a smaller island on their Island Tour island with rocks centered there, chances are those are money rocks. Beat into\u00a0any rock and it\u2019ll litter Bells upon Bells.\u00a0Hit the other rocks present on the island and rack up the Bells.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Don\u2019t Bring Medicine<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Worth noting, while players can get stung by Tarantulas, Wasps, and Scorpions on Island Tours, the game won\u2019t spawn players back at their home like on the main island. Instead, players will continuously respawn back on the island. Still, it should be pointed out that getting stung eats up time so it\u2019s still advised to be patient.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Either way, what this does mean is that there\u2019s absolutely no need to bring Medicine. Nor is there a real need to be worried about stumbling onto Tarantula or Scorpion Island. That said, while this is a decent quality of life feature it arguably makes things a bit too easy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

2 <\/span>There\u2019s No Coming Back<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Leave absolutely nothing behind because there is no coming back. Anything left on the island might as well be considered destroyed because it simply does not exist in the context of <\/span>New Horizons <\/span><\/i>anymore. While players will be able to fly to <\/span>familiar <\/span><\/i>islands, they’re never the same islands. No two Tarantula Islands are identical, for instance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anyone looking to use their Nook Miles<\/a> Ticket needs to understand that Island Tours don\u2019t come around all the time, and it\u2019s important to make the most of them. That means taking one\u2019s time before leaving. Even if villagers wind up on an island they\u2019re not interested in (like Fish Garbage Island,) there\u2019s still a reason to explore every inch of land there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

1 <\/span>It Really Is Random<\/h2>\n

The Dodos warn players that every Island Tour results in a new, randomized island each time, but considering the existence of consistent island patterns like Tarantula Island and Money Rock Island, it\u2019s not unreasonable to assume there\u2019s some way to manipulate Island Tours. After all, Tarantula Island is nightlocked.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All the same, it really is random. There is absolutely no telling which island players will go, nor is there a way to manipulate the RNG to result in a specific island. With time, players will figure out which patterns generate at which times (if they even do,) but everything else indicates that Island Tours are as random as they come.<\/span><\/p>\n
