As expected, Gamescom\u2019s Opening Night Live event has been heavy with big announcements and new looks at such titles as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War<\/em><\/a> and Dragon Age 4<\/em>, but the exciting previews actually started before the show did, as Bandai Namco released a new trailer for its upcoming cross-gen action-RPG Scarlet Nexus<\/em><\/strong> during the ONL pre-show.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a few months since Scarlet Nexus<\/em> was revealed at the Inside Xbox presentation<\/a> earlier this summer. Bandai Namco has provided a few brief glimpses of the game since then, but today\u2019s new trailer offers the best look yet at the different psychic-based abilities players will be able to wield against the otherworld threats known simply as the Others.<\/p>\n

Bandai Namco also provided a new official description for Scarlet Nexus<\/a><\/em>\u2019 story: \u201cIn the far distant future, a psionic hormone has been discovered in the human brain, granting people extra-sensory powers, and changing the world as we know it. As humanity enters this new era, deranged mutants known as Others begin to descend from the sky with a hunger for human brains. Impervious to conventional weapons, those with acute extra-sensory abilities, known as psychics, are our only chance to fight the onslaught from above and preserve humanity. Since that fateful day, psychics have been scouted for their talents and recruited to the Other Suppression Force, humanity\u2019s last line of defense.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new trailer shows off more of the game\u2019s protagonist, OSF recruit Yuito Sumeragi, as well as a few new OSF members, who Bandai Namco said are named Hanabi, Nagi, Fubuki, and Kasane. The real meat of the Gamescom trailer, though, is the new glimpses at Scarlet Nexus<\/em>‘ gameplay<\/a>\u00a0and the abilities players can wield in combat, which include being able to hurl a barrage of psychic blades and create doppelgangers to land more attacks. Yuito can also be seen at the end of the trailer entering a powered-up state in what appears to be an otherworld plane.<\/p>\n
