And the first trailer for a new property is deeply intriguing.<\/p>\n<p>Developer Reflector Entertainment dropped a cinematic reveal for <strong><em>Unknown 9: Awakening.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0Very little is known about the aptly-titled game thus far.\u00a0Reflector Entertainment\u00a0is also a relative unknown, though\u00a0its\u00a0<em>Unknown 9<\/em> &#8220;storyworld&#8221; seems to be\u00a0its primary focus at the moment, weaving a narrative that will play out across multiple\u00a0media platforms.\u00a0Transmedia tie-ins are becoming increasingly prevalent for new IP launches, as demonstrated by <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/green-knight-tabletop-rpg\/\">the recent tabletop RPG announced for The Green Knight<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/black-myth-wukong-trailer-next-gen\/\">Black Myth: Wukong Trailer Shows Truly Impressive Next-Gen Gameplay<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pictured in the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/unknown-9-awakening\">Unknown 9: Awakening<\/a><\/em> trailer\u00a0is a young girl, Haroona, hiding something\u00a0behind a loose brick wall in the slums of Kolkata. She is pursued by a young boy wielding a stick, who shoves her to the ground as other children look on. Before he can bring his weapon to bear, a bluish, supernatural-looking wave of light sweeps out from Haroona, creating ghostly outlines that telegraph the movements of everybody present. Haroona stands, avoiding the potentially fatal blow to her head, and her attacker falls back, frightened. The trailer closes with an older hand returning to the loose brick from the beginning of the trailer, retrieving whatever may be inside.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/DUbFeNDI_FI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Trailer&#8217;s description gives audiences a little more information to go on. Close-calls seem to be routine for Haroona, as she is &#8220;haunted by visions of her own death,&#8221; and she is struggling to understand her mysterious power,\u00a0relating to &#8220;a mysterious, hidden dimension known as The Fold,&#8221; which was likely the ghostly wave seen in the trailer. Hopefully, there is more to the power than the ability to rewind time,\u00a0which would help differentiate the title from <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/deathloop-devs-explain-time-loop-gameplay\/\">the time-looping title <em>Deathloop<\/em>, due for the PS5 later this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer&#8217;s graphics don&#8217;t live up to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-unreal-engine-5-gameplay-demo\/\">the shockingly realistic Unreal Engine 5 tech demo<\/a>, but the cinematic is compelling and impressively rendered, especially coming from a newer developer. Haroona&#8217;s short actually has the potential to be a highlight among Gamescom&#8217;s newcomers.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/video-game-trailer-cinematic-gameplay-2019-best-top\/\">While 2019 was rich with high-profile trailers<\/a>, the cancellation of E3 and other conventions have led to lower-key reveals\u00a0in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Even though little is known about the game, the budding\u00a0<em>Unknown 9<\/em>\u00a0franchise already has a great deal of material to explore.
