Gamescom\u2019s Opening Night Live may be over, but the game announcements are still coming. Following Gamescom’s main event and its major announcements<\/a>, a number of smaller games have been getting their reveals during the post-show, including the reveal of Pharaoh: A New Era<\/em><\/strong>, a remake of the ancient Egyptian city-builder game Pharaoh<\/em>.<\/p>\n

For the relative newcomers to city-builder games out there, the original version of Pharaoh<\/em> was released in 1999, developed by Impressions Games. Since then, it\u2019s gone down as one of the best city-building games of all time<\/a>, and today it was revealed that Dotemu, developer of such retro revivals as Streets of Rage 4<\/em> and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap<\/em>, is in charge of reviving it for the modern-day.<\/p>\n

The reveal trailer for Pharaoh: A New Era<\/em> mainly consists of a lush animated cinematic that focuses on ancient Egypt at the height of its prosperity, with only a screenshot of the game\u2019s updated visuals showing up at the end. Luckily, IGN has a few more substantial details, revealing that Pharaoh<\/em> is being rebuilt from the ground up with brand new code. In addition to improved graphics, players will also have a brand new UI and a variety of improved mechanics to look forward to.<\/p>\n
