As\u00a0a console without a DVD player, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-selling-video-game-consoles-time-ign\/\">it garnered fewer sales than its competitors<\/a>. Despite this,\u00a0it spawned\u00a0numerous critically acclaimed games. This is ranking the ten hardest Nintendo GameCube games of all time.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">10 <\/span>Resident Evil Zero<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/resident-evil-zero.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>After playing all the <em>Resident Evil<\/em>\u00a0games, it becomes abundantly clear that Hard Mode on\u00a0<em>Resident Evil Zero<\/em>\u00a0is absurd.\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 2<\/em>\u00a0on Nightmare Mode poses a challenge, but\u00a0<em>Resident Evil Zero<\/em>\u00a0is a step-up in difficulty<em>.\u00a0<\/em>Nintendo GameCube&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 4<\/em>\u00a0sits somewhere on the easy side of the spectrum. <em>Resident Evil Zero<\/em> can be beaten if you dodge and <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-zombie-games-reviews-metacritic\/\">only kill zombies when needed<\/a>. This way, you can conserve ammunition and resources for vital parts in the game.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">9 <\/span>The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Twilight-Princess-1.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess<\/em> offers a robust challenge for those not familiar with the franchise. It features gameplay consisting of combat, puzzle-solving, and exploration. Puzzles are arduous, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/legend-zelda-twilight-princess-gamecube-wii-differences\/\">dungeons pose unique challenges.<\/a> Some might find themselves lost in <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/games-ps4-biggest-open-world\/\">the game&#8217;s sprawling world<\/a>. Its difficulty is somewhere halfway between\u00a0<em>The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild<\/em> and The <em>Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, <\/em>with the latter being the easiest.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">8 <\/span>Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Star-Wars-Rogue-Leader-Space-Flight.jpeg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>As a launch title for the Nintendo GameCube<em>, Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader<\/em>\u00a0is a worthy successor to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-64-best-games-90s-ranked\/\">Nintendo 64 classic.<\/a> It offers an added level of realism, which can work against you in a dogfight.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/star-wars-jedi-fallen-order-hidden-secrets\/\">10 Hidden Secrets Many Still Haven\u2019t Found In Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Flying an X-Wing might not be as realistic in the first-person view, but at least the game gives you the option. This game would&#8217;ve benefited <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-star-wars-games-with-starfighters\/\">from more starfighters<\/a>, but overall, it&#8217;s an otherwise excellent game in the <em>Rogue Squadron<\/em> series.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">7 <\/span>Splinter Cell<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Tom-Clancys-Splinter-Cell-Cropped.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>When\u00a0<em>Splinter Cell<\/em> released for the Nintendo GameCube, and most other major platforms, it was a critical success that <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/splinter-cell-sam-fisher-stealth-video-games-no-sense\/\">redefined the stealth genre.<\/a> This award-winning game boasted graphics that were way ahead of their time. Details in shadows never appeared as impressive. The contrast of light and darkness gave players a reason to return to this game.<\/p>\n<p><em>Splinter Cell<\/em> is\u00a0one of the Nintendo GameCube&#8217;s hardest games.\u00a0Try playing this game on Hard mode, and you&#8217;ll face enemies with increased health who can withstand frag grenades. At least the game presents multiple ways to approach a situation.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">6 <\/span>Super Monkey Ball 2<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/super-monkey-ball-2.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>It&#8217;s recommended to try the beginner stages before you dive into <em>Super Monkey Ball 2<\/em>&#8216;s more difficult levels. The story mode contains one-hundred levels, with each of them being split between ten worlds. There is also a challenge mode that contains ninety stages. Every level is like an elaborate circus act. Riding a ball\u00a0through puzzling levels makes progression a grueling experience.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">5 <\/span>Viewtiful Joe<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/viewtful-joe.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>The style of animation doesn&#8217;t do you any favors. The fact that the original<em>\u00a0Viewtiful Joe<\/em>\u00a0was played in a 4:3 aspect ratio gave you a short warning for incoming danger.\u00a0<em>Viewtiful Jo<\/em>e is a beautiful game that is <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-video-game-sidekick\/\">along the lines of\u00a0<em>Super Smash Bros.<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Crash Bandicoot.<\/em>\u00a0It contains beat &#8217;em up and platforming gameplay\u2014the combination mixes for a tough but rewarding experience.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">4 <\/span>Metroid Prime 2: Echoes<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/metroid-prime-2.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p><em>Metroid Prime 2: Echoes<\/em>\u00a0offers\u00a0complex level designs. Trying to progress is through this game is no cakewalk, but you&#8217;ll feel the reward when you do. Those experienced with <em>Metroid<\/em> games will agree\u00a0<em>Metroid Prime 2: Echoes<\/em>\u00a0is one of the hardest. It&#8217;s more than twice as long as the original <em>Metroid,<\/em> which really begins to take a toll on your stamina. It&#8217;s ratcheted difficulty will become apparent if Nintendo ever decides to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/nintendo-gamecube-best-graphics\/\">port the\u00a0<em>Metroid Prime<\/em>\u00a0trilogy to the Nintendo Switch.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">3 <\/span>Mega Man Network Transmission<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static2.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Mega-Man-Network-Transmission-2.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>The <em>Mega Man<\/em> series has remained true to its original formula, with new games taking on a 2.5 D appearance.\u00a0Despite being lambasted by critics, <em>Mega Man Network Transmission<\/em> is considered one of the most challenging games on the Nintendo GameCube. It gets to the point of frustration because of how tricky the gameplay is. The level design is top-notch, but <em>Mega Man Network Transmission<\/em>\u00a0could have benefited from an easier single-player mode.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">2 <\/span>F-Zero GX<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static3.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/f-zero.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>It&#8217;s not so much the obstacles (and they are there) that make the game challenging, but one has to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fast-paced-video-games\/\">keep up with the blinding speed.<\/a> This futuristic racer implores you to participate in ultra speed races with objectives to\u00a0complete during each race.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/captain-falcon-fzero-super-smash-bros-trivia\/\">10 Things You Never Knew About Captain Falcon<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Defeating Black Shadow, who is essentially the epitome of evil, takes numerous attempts on the hard difficulty. Sort of like the film\u00a0<em>Speed,<\/em>\u00a0Blood Falcon has attached a bomb to your vehicle that detonates when you go below 700 km\/h. On the Very Hard difficulty, this speed increases to 800 km\/h.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"item-title\"><span class=\"item-num\">1 <\/span>Ikaruga<\/h2>\n<figure><img src='https:\/\/static1.gamerantimages.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/ikaruga.jpg' \/><\/figure>\n<p>This game is notorious for its painstaking difficulty. Regardless of what difficult mode you choose, it throws challenges at you in the form of objects that collide with your ship. Also, waves of incoming fire don&#8217;t make the game any less aggravating.
