This year&#8217;s <strong><em>Sakura Wars<\/em><\/strong> is one such title that released to little fanfare\u00a0from veterans and newcomers to the franchise. Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/final-fantasy-7-call-duty-dominate-npd-sales-chart-april-2020\/\"><em>Sakura Wars<\/em> not even making the top 20 sales chart<\/a> upon release, it seems the franchise isn&#8217;t dead just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, publisher and developer Sega opened a new teaser website and Twitter account for &#8220;<em>Project B.L.A.C.K<\/em>.&#8221; It wasn&#8217;t long until fans made the connection to the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/sakura-wars\/\"><em>Sakura Wars<\/em><\/a> franchise and likely a new game to come. The full reveal of <em>Project B.L.A.C.K.<\/em> is set for September 2.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/best-sega-games-worst-metacritic\/\">5 Best Sega Games (&amp; 5 Worst), According To Metacritic<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0obvious giveaway was a trademark for\u00a0&#8220;<em>Sakura Wars B.L.A.C.K.<\/em>&#8221; which Sega filed back in May. Thus, fans were quick to\u00a0notice that this is likely the realization of that trademark. The second tip-off was a music video\u00a0that released soon after Twitter account launched. The video features anime girls dancing in Military uniforms to a song composed by Kouhei Tanaka, the <em>Sakura Wars\u00a0<\/em>series composer.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/pj_black_sega\/status\/1299164841974722560\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While there were many signs that <em>Sakura Wars<\/em> would continue, there was some doubt based on developer comments. In July, director of the<em> Sakura Wars<\/em>\u00a0reboot Tetsuya Ootsubo, said that he and the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sakura-wars-sequels\/\">development team &#8220;would love to continue the series&#8221;<\/a> and were pushing for it. This statement was made after the trademark filing so <em>Sakura Wars B.L.A.C.K<\/em>. was likely in development at that point.<\/p>\n<p>While it&#8217;s not as surprising as the reboot reveal, fans of the <em>Sakura Wars<\/em>\u00a0series\u00a0are still happy that the Sega franchise continues. The most recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/sakura-wars-reboot-best-in-series-not\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Sakura Wars<\/em> reboot was well-received by fans<\/a>\u00a0after a long hiatus for the series.
