Notch, who founded Mojang Studios and\u00a0developed\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/minecraft\/\">Minecraft<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>in 2009,\u00a0voiced his displeasure at Brown and asked him to &#8220;Drop the politics.&#8221;\u00a0The two have struck a deal\u00a0where Brown will divert from political discussion and Notch will delete his Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/minecraft-jurassic-park-dlc\/\">Minecraft is Getting a Jurassic Park Content Crossover<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Notch justified the drastic action of deleting his Twitter account as &#8220;One small step towards the old internet.&#8221;\u00a0Regardless of whatever the &#8220;old internet&#8221; is supposed to be and whether it can ever come back, Notch has proven to be one of the most prominent figures in modern internet culture positively through <em>Minecraft<\/em> and negatively through his social media presence. The Swedish native most infamously had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/minecraft-creator-notch-has-a-meltdown-on-twitter-attacks-critics-and-fans\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter meltdown directed at developer\u00a0Zoe Quinn<\/a>\u00a0of Gamergate infamy\u00a0and has made multiple other statements that could be construed as racist, sexist, homophobic, and transphobic.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gamemakerstk\/status\/1299323212401082370\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The deterioration of Notch&#8217;s public image\u00a0has led to both Microsoft and Mojang to distance themselves from him as much as they can. A March 2019\u00a0<em>Minecraft\u00a0<\/em>update <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/minecraft-markus-persson-notch-remove\/\">removed references to Notch from the game&#8217;s menu<\/a>, though his name is still present in the credits.<\/p>\n<p>While Microsoft did not make any public statement regarding that particular update, they did say that Notch&#8217;s views &#8220;do not reflect those of Microsoft or Mojang&#8221; in response to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/notch-minecraft-creator-anniversary-controversy\/\">not inviting him to <em>Minecraft<\/em>&#8216;s tenth anniversary\u00a0event<\/a>. As evidenced by Notch&#8217;s name still being in the game&#8217;s credits and various pieces of <em>Minecraft<\/em>-related media, Microsoft and Mojang will never be able to fully disassociate themselves from him whenever his name comes up in the news.<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown what Notch, who currently resides in Beverly Hills, California, will do without his Twitter account or if he will go back on his word and come back to the social media platform.
