Though the game currently does have cats, players of the game quickly noticed the new detail, and rumors quickly spread across social media. Eventually the official <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/sea-of-thieves\/\"><em>Sea of Thieves<\/em><\/a> Twitter account confirmed the rumor with a tongue-in-cheek comment telling fans to please act surprised.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sea-thieves-best-improvements-game-since-launch\/\">Sea Of Thieves: The 10 Best Improvements To The Game Since Launch<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Outlining the plans for <em>Sea of Thieves<\/em> this September and beyond, developer Rare released a video narrated by\u00a0Executive Producer Joe Neate that went into detail on the game&#8217;s future. The video celebrates the success of the game&#8217;s launch on Steam earlier this year, indicating that Steam users make up between 20 to 30% of the game&#8217;s overall active users all with the ability to cross-play with the Xbox One. Nate states the goal of streamlining content to make things easier for players, which looks to work in tandem with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/sea-of-thieves-lead-engineer-accessibility-features\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">accessibility\u00a0features<\/a>\u00a0discussed earlier in the year.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SeaOfThieves\/status\/1299404466689630215\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Rare will continue to add more unique live events to the game over the next few months including the addition of a new permanent voyage for Gold Hoarders in the September update. <em>Sea of Thieves<\/em>, being a live service game, already receives monthly updates ranging from new quests to new skins for ships such as the <em>Halo<\/em> themed ship, the <em>Gears of War<\/em> ship, and the <em>Battletoads<\/em> themed ship coinciding with the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sea-of-thieves-battletoads-ship-dlc\/\">launch of <em>Battletoads<\/em><\/a> on the Xbox One.<\/p>\n<p><em>Sea of Thieves<\/em> continues to be a success for both Rare and Microsoft. Recently <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sea-of-thieves-15-million-players\/\"><em>Sea of Thieves<\/em> hit record numbers of players<\/a>\u00a0in the game with over 15 million playing across all platforms. Despite a rocky start with lukewarm reception, Rare continued to support\u00a0the game\u00a0which led to\u00a0<em>Sea of Thieves<\/em> becoming extremely popular on streaming platforms Twitch, YouTube, and even Mixer before the support was pulled for the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Along with the content update, Rare announced the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/sea-of-thieves-private-server-update\/\">addition of private servers for <em>Sea of Thieves<\/em><\/a>, which is currently in\u00a0alpha testing. The intention of private servers is strictly for PVP\u00a0and emergent play.
