Although the feat normally requires 200 of the\u00a0new Mega Energy, one observant player has found a shortcut to the process involving trading.<\/p>\n<p>Despite\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/pokemon-go\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a> finally introducing Mega Evolution, players\u00a0remain partially\u00a0dissatisfied by the ridiculous costliness of the process. Thankfully though, Pokemon YouTuber &#8220;JFarmakis&#8221; has\u00a0shared their discovery of a\u00a0blessed loophole via Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-get-mega-energy\/\">Pokemon GO:\u00a0How to Get Mega Energy<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It seems that if a Pokemon has been Mega Evolved at least once before, it will keep its Mega Energy discount even after trading. Of course, Mega Pokemon can&#8217;t be traded, so Trainers will have to wait through the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-mega-evolution-time-limit\/\">duration of Mega Evolution<\/a> before swapping. That said, with some thoughtful trades, Pokemon like Beedrill, which normally require 100 Mega Energy to Mega Evolve, can be powered up for a mere 25 Mega Energy. Meanwhile, Pokemon like Charizard and the other Kanto starters can have their cost of 200 Mega Energy\u00a0discounted to 50.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, Mega Evolving a Pokemon requires\u00a0somewhere\u00a0between 100 and 200 Mega Energy, depending on the species. Furthermore, the\u00a0only consistent way to earn Mega Energy is by successfully completing\u00a0Mega Raid Battles, which reward\u00a0a maximum of\u00a050 Mega Energy per victory. This means that a player hoping to Mega Evolve their Blastoise for the first time would normally have to complete 4-5 Mega Blastoise raids, minimum, to collect the required energy. Needless to say, at this rate, some players would rather pick the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/pokemon-all-generation-one-mega-evolutions-ranked-worst-best\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">best Kanto starter Mega Evolution<\/a> instead of trying to unlock all three.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JFarmakis_pogo\/status\/1299753682360307712?s=20\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0the trading exploit in mind, Trainers and their friends can employ a &#8220;divide and conquer&#8221; method\u00a0to easily fill their Mega Pokedexes.\u00a0If Trainer A focuses on collecting 200 Venusaur Mega Energy, for example,\u00a0Trainer B can focus on collecting\u00a0Blastoise Mega Energy. Once Trainer A Mega Evolves their Venusaur once, and Trainer B does the same with Blastoise, they can trade. Trainer A\u00a0will then be able to <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-best-mega-blastoise-counters\/\">obtain a powerful Mega\u00a0Blastoise<\/a> at the reduced cost of 50 Mega Energy, despite the fact that they&#8217;ve never Mega Evolved a\u00a0Blastoise before, and vice versa for Trainer B.<\/p>\n<p>While this may very well be an intended feature of Mega Evolution,\u00a0many players speculate it may just be\u00a0another one of\u00a0Niantic&#8217;s usual\u00a0oversights. In case the &#8220;feature&#8221; gets patched, players should be quick to take advantage of this exploit. It&#8217;ll be especially easy to coordinate all the trades since\u00a0there are only <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/pokemon-go-mega-evolutions-list\/\">four Pokemon currently\u00a0able to Mega Evolve<\/a>.\u00a0But either way, Mega Evolution is not permanent, and Mega Pokemon can&#8217;t partake in PVP, so\u00a0players who don&#8217;t care for the\u00a0Mega Pokedex entry won&#8217;t be missing out on much.<\/p>\n<p>With its first few Mega Pokemon finally making their debut,\u00a0<em>Pokemon GO<\/em> is getting closer and closer to the present-day generation of Pokemon. And although\u00a0the long-anticipated introduction to Mega Evolution continues to be drawn out, players can definitely start looking forward to at least <em>a few<\/em> more Mega Pokemon. Otherwise, recent trailers wouldn&#8217;t have showcased so many Mega fan-favorites, like the steely cool Lucario.
