The lawsuit that professional Fortnite<\/em> player Tfue started against the FaZe Clan organization in May of 2019, stating that the company imposed an unlawful and oppressive contract onto him, has ended in a voluntary dismissal.<\/p>\n

Turner “Tfue” Tenney first filed the lawsuit against FaZe agency<\/a> after signing a contract with them in 2018. In the lawsuit, Tfue claimed that FaZe’s control over the professional esports player was restricting, allegedly preventing him from signing any deals with other brands as well as taking a mountainous 80% of Tfue’s earnings from revenue and deals. Tfue’s claims held the most credence when he said that FaZe was in violation of the Talent Agency Act, however, he was knowledgeable of and agreed to all of these details laid out in the contract at the time of signing, bringing forward the question of unlawfulness.<\/p>\n

Then, FaZe Clan responded with a countersuit<\/a>, accusing the 22-year-old professional\u00a0Fortnite\u00a0<\/em>player of breaching his contract and betraying the agency. In FaZe’s lawsuit, it was revealed not only that Tfue had made about $20 million in profits since his initial signing in 2018, but also that he only had handed over $60,000 to the agency, a much smaller cut than his lawsuit against the clan alleges. After a grueling year for FaZe<\/a>, the original lawsuit made by Tfue against FaZe was dismissed by a judge in California in mid-July, a move in the talent agency’s favor. The remaining dispute was on track for a trial in October in New York.<\/p>\n

Now, the lawsuit is finally coming to a close as both parties have agreed to voluntarily dismiss the lawsuit. A joint statement was sent to\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter: “FaZe Clan and Turner Tenney are pleased to announce that they have resolved their disputes and settled their litigations,” it reads. No other details of the settlement have been released, including whether or not it included any monetary aspects.<\/p>\n

FaZe has kept a professional attitude towards Tfue<\/a> through the process, earlier stating that, though the clan was happy with the judge’s ruling of the dismissal, it never wanted to attack Tfue or his career, and it ultimately supports the professional gamer. In the joint statement released to Hollywood Reporter, FaZe Clan states that it wishes the best of luck to Tfue in the future. And Tfue has remained a successful content creator since the start of the lawsuit, if not seeing more success because of it. He has more than 12 million subscribers on YouTube and 8.9 million followers on Twitch, making him one of the most successful professional gamers in 2020.<\/p>\n
