Celebrating the addition of Mega Evolution in Pokemon GO<\/em><\/strong>, developer Niantic has released an overview of upcoming events in\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0over the month of September<\/a>, including a lead up to a special Halloween Mega Gengar event, starting earlier than usual.<\/p>\n

Mega Pidgeot will be the first to unlock with raids, starting September 1st through 7th. Mega Houndoom follows shortly on September 11-17, and the Halloween Research Event for Mega Gengar starts a week later on September 22.\u00a0As with all raids, players will want to gather together with friends to complete them due to the difficulty and participating players will have to check the game map and radar to pinpoint exact locations the special raids in their area.<\/p>\n

Recently,\u00a0Mega Evolution finally made its way to Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a>\u00a0with a new Special Research storyline.\u00a0Certain\u00a0Pokemon can Mega Evolve using a rare resource called Mega Energy that can only be obtained via\u00a0Mega Raids. The faster players defeat the\u00a0Mega Evolved Pokemon in the raids, the more Mega Energy they will receive post-battle. Once players obtain enough Mega Energy, they can Mega Evolve a Pokemon, and the Mega Energy required to Mega Evolve\u00a0them in the future will reduce significantly. As with the mainline series of games, players can only have one Mega Evolved Pokemon per battle.<\/p>\n

Pokemon<\/em> fans have\u00a0a lot to look forward to regarding upcoming Pokemon<\/em> content this year. In addition to the Pokemon G<\/a>O<\/em>\u00a0updates this fall,\u00a0Pokemon Sword and Shield<\/em>‘s new DLC, The Crown Tundra, is still expected to release this year, with new leaks hinting at the addition of several Pokemon, including a Pokedex entry for the Dragon\/Flying Pokemon, Dragonite<\/a>. Covid-19 has impacted the development of several Nintendo titles, but no announcement has been made as of yet regarding the effect on the upcoming DLC, so it’s\u00a0possible for the DLC\u00a0to stay on track for this year.<\/p>\n

Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0recently received a major change to raids by developer Niantic. The Tier system, which indicated the difficulty of the raid boss players would face, has been reorganized with all the Tier 2 and Tier 4 bosses in Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0being merged<\/a> into Tier 1 and Tier 3 levels. The change is intended to streamline the difficulty system leaving only 3 levels of difficulty.<\/p>\n

Niantic also announced plans for a Pokemon GO<\/em>\u00a0content update beyond September. Mythical Pokemon Victini is the topic of a special research quest in\u00a0Pokemon GO<\/em><\/a>\u00a0starting September 30.\u00a0Special research quests are events that involve sending trainers\u00a0to various locations to interact with other players and catch different\u00a0Pokemon.<\/p>\n

Pokemon GO<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0is available now on Android and iOS.<\/p>\n
