Before the insanely popular\u00a0New Horizons<\/em>\u00a0release in March 2020, Animal Crossing<\/em>: New Leaf<\/em><\/a>\u00a0was the king of the series. With so many exciting things to do, creative items to find, and customization options, New Leaf<\/em> was a game that many players put weeks, months, and even years into.<\/p>\n

Now that New Horizons<\/em> <\/a>is out and has captivated the hearts of old fans\u00a0& new fans alike, there are some iconic items that New Leaf\u00a0<\/em>players are looking for<\/a> within the new game. Nintendo loves to put little easter eggs and cross-over references in their games and Animal Crossing<\/em> is no exception! Here are 10 Nintendo themed items that New Leaf<\/em> players desperately want to see in New Horizons<\/em>.<\/p>\n

10 <\/span>Mario Wallpaper & Flooring<\/h2>\n

What better way to merge two games into one than by\u00a0designing\u00a0an entire room like a Super Mario Bros<\/a>.<\/em> level? By opening a Fortune Cookie from the Nookling General Store, players could get a variety of fun Nintendo themed items, including both a Mushroom Mural and a Block Floor<\/a>. When placed\u00a0together in a room, it will feel like you’ve stepped into the 8-bit world of Super Mario, even though you’re still in Animal Crossing<\/em>!<\/p>\n

9 <\/span>Majora’s Mask<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

One of the coolest items that players can\u00a0find in New Leaf<\/em> is this replica of Majora’s Mask from the Legend of Zelda<\/em><\/a> series. The Ocarina of Time<\/em><\/a> sequel is one of the most memorable games that Nintendo has ever released, making it obvious that it would need a cameo in New Leaf<\/em>! Place this bad boy right on your face or display it on a pedestal where it can be admired by all Nintendo fanatics<\/a> who come to visit.<\/p>\n

8 <\/span>Pikmin Hats<\/h2>\n

There are quite a few Nintendo-themed wearable items in New Leaf<\/em>, but arguably the best ones are the Pikmin<\/a> hats. There are three colors to collect\u2013 red, yellow,\u00a0& blue\u2013 and they’re all equally cute.<\/p>\n

Each hat comes with its own unique and accurate description that references back to the Pikmin<\/em> games, and they will turn any outfit into a hilarious yet adorable one. Finding all three hats is an absolute must!<\/p>\n

7 <\/span>Mario Items<\/h2>\n

A majority of the Nintendo items from New Leaf<\/em>\u00a0are Mario<\/em> related since there are so many Super Mario<\/em> games and characters. Some of these themed\u00a0items<\/a> include a Toad Hat, Peach’s Parasol, Blocks and Coins, Fire Flowers, Super Mushrooms, 1-Up Mushrooms, Green Shells, Stars, Yoshi Eggs, and more. You can even find a Big Bro ‘Stache\u00a0costume that is a wearable version of Mario’s nose and iconic mustache.<\/p>\n

6 <\/span>Samus’ Mask<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

No hero from Nintendo can compare to the coolness of Samus from the Metroid<\/em><\/a> series. She can kick some serious butt and has an incredible Power Suit. New Leaf<\/em>\u00a0villagers are able to obtain Samus’ mask to really\u00a0make them feel like they, too, are a cool, sci-fi protagonist. The insightful fortune that comes with the orange high-tech mask states, “She who forgoes a hat and grabs a helmet knows not the sting of lava.”<\/p>\n

5 <\/span>Mario Kart<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

One of the best selling Nintendo\u00a0series of all time\u00a0is Mario Kart<\/em><\/a>, so it’s clear to see why they would add an actual Mario Kart into New Leaf<\/em>. The cart is red and has Mario’s initial on the front, also sporting yellow tires, big thrusters, and a big\u00a0red glider on top.<\/p>\n

The decoration is totally worth the time\u00a0& effort it takes to unlock from Fortune Cookies since it is one of the coolest decorations <\/a>in the entire game. Now if only players could hop in and drive it around!<\/p>\n

4 <\/span>Blue Falcon<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

New Leaf<\/em> players were able to collect an actual Blue Falcon from F-Zero<\/em>. The awesome spaceship\/plane replica would make for an incredible centerpiece <\/a>in any AC<\/em> home. Though\u00a0New Horizons<\/em>\u00a0has a couple\u00a0of awesome giant statues that players can decorate their island with, it’s a shame there aren’t more throwbacks to older Nintendo games.<\/p>\n

3 <\/span>Master Sword<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

The most elusive and powerful <\/a>sword in all of\u00a0Legend of Zelda<\/em>, the Master Sword, can be found and owned in New Leaf<\/em>. Why this awesome item isn’t in New Horizons<\/em>\u00a0is truly baffling. There should definitely be more Zelda<\/em> related items in the game and that’s an indisputable fact! The fortune that is paired with the stunning decoration piece is the famous quote: “It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.”<\/p>\n

2 <\/span>Arwing<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Another Nintendo themed vehicle that can be obtained and admired in ACNL<\/em> is the Arwing, the high-tech spacecraft featured in Star Fox<\/em><\/a>. This one is clearly a model figure since it is lifted up by a stand, but it looks super cool nonetheless.<\/p>\n

It is\u00a0great to see\u00a0so many classic Nintendo games from the 90s make so many appearances in Animal Crossing<\/em>‘s history, it’s just a shame\u00a0New Horizons\u00a0<\/em>is lacking.<\/p>\n

1 <\/span>Metroid<\/h2>\n
<\/figure>\n

Metroids are\u00a0the\u00a0creepy parasitic creatures from the Metroid<\/em> series. This\u00a0spooky species can actually make an appearance in your\u00a0ACNL\u00a0home! New Horizons<\/em> has been very creative with how fish, bugs, <\/a>and sea creatures can be displayed in one’s home, so having an actual, living Metroid displayed in a laboratory tube next to one’s\u00a0Oarfish and\u00a0Coelacanth would be so awesome.<\/p>\n
