Frequent\u00a0<em>Resident Evil<\/em> franchise leaker AestheticGamer believes that some kind of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/shenmue\/\"><em>Shenmue<\/em><\/a> announcement is going to take place at some point this weekend, though stopped short of revealing exactly what the announcement will entail.<\/p>\n<p>AestheticGamer previously teased a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/shenmue-news-update-leak\/\"><em>Shenmue<\/em> series announcement<\/a> last week, only clarifying that it&#8217;s not related to\u00a0<em>Shenmue 4<\/em>. Unfortunately, AestheticGamer still doesn&#8217;t provide much in the way of concrete details about the announcement, beyond that it is for people who &#8220;care about the story&#8221; of\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em>. What exactly this means is unclear, however. That being said, AestheticGamer has confirmed what\u00a0<em>not<\/em> to expect from this weekend&#8217;s supposed\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em> announcement.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/shenmue-3-update-adds-requested-features-skip-dialogue\/\">Shenmue 3 Update Adding Requested Features<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>AestheticGamer has reiterated that the announcement has nothing to do with a potential\u00a0<em>Shenmue 4<\/em>, and that it is not ports for the first three games in the series either. It&#8217;s not a book series or a documentary about the development of\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em>, and it will not be seeking <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/shenmue-3-kickstarter-e3-2015\/\">funding on Kickstarter like\u00a0<em>Shenmue 3<\/em><\/a> did, as it&#8217;s &#8220;already funded.&#8221; This doesn&#8217;t leave a lot of options about what the\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em> announcement could be. Speculation points to a possible\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em> TV series adaptation or something along those lines, but fans will just have to keep an eye out this weekend to find out.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AestheticGamer1\/status\/1301183681592135680\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>While this weekend&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em> reveal will supposedly not be\u00a0<em>Shenmue 4<\/em>, that doesn&#8217;t mean such a project will never materialize.\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em> series director Yu Suzuki has even talked about what he would do in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/shenmue-4-changes\/\"><em>Shenmue 4<\/em> game<\/a>, stating that it would bring some major changes to the franchise. Whereas\u00a0<em>Shenmue 3<\/em> was designed with longtime\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em> fans in mind,\u00a0a potential\u00a0<em>Shenmue 4<\/em> would try to court more casual gamers by featuring more modern gameplay features.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately,\u00a0<em>Shenmue 3<\/em>&#8216;s sales weren&#8217;t exactly all that impressive, and the game also earned mixed reviews at the time of its release. Considering the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/shenmue-3-reviews\/\">mixed reception to\u00a0<em>Shenmue 3<\/em><\/a>, it&#8217;s possible that Suzuki won&#8217;t get a chance at making\u00a0<em>Shenmue 4<\/em>. Considering this, perhaps whatever this project is will give fans much-needed closure for\u00a0<em>Shenmue<\/em>&#8216;s story, but it&#8217;s scope has yet to be determined.<\/p>\n<p>As far as AestheticGamer goes, they have been a reliable source of insider information in the past, leaking\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8<\/em> details prior to the game being officially announced. Regardless, fans should still take this information with a grain of salt.
