For one reason or another, Nintendo has been secretive when it comes to its holiday 2020 plans. To date, the only first-party Nintendo<\/a> game confirmed to be coming to the Switch in the next three months is\u00a0Pikmin 3 Deluxe<\/em>, a port of a Wii U game. Rumors have been swirling that Nintendo is going to host a Nintendo Direct presentation, and now there’s even more evidence in favor of that theory.<\/p>\n

As reported by Dexerto, the online page for Nintendo Directs\u00a0was updated earlier this morning. While it could mean nothing, some have taken this as a sign that the company is finally planning to host its long-awaited Nintendo Direct presentation<\/a>. It’s been nearly a year since the last proper Nintendo Direct, and so many fans are growing impatient with the lack of information about new first-party Switch games.<\/p>\n

This piece of evidence joins things like industry insider reports that a Nintendo Direct is happening in the first half of September<\/a>, as well as the fact that Nintendo was indeed planning to be at E3 this year. Even though the E3 2020 was canceled because of the coronavirus, the announcements Nintendo had planned for the show didn’t just disappear, and so it’s just a matter of time before it pulls the curtain back.<\/p>\n

As for what Nintendo will reveal at its next Nintendo Direct presentation, that remains to be seen. Perhaps the most consistent rumor is that Nintendo is going to showcase a 3D\u00a0Super Mario<\/em> collection<\/a> at the Nintendo Direct that will bring together\u00a0Super Mario 64<\/em>,\u00a0Super Mario Sunshine<\/em>,\u00a0Super Mario Galaxy<\/em>, and\u00a0Super Mario Galaxy 2<\/em> in a single package.\u00a0A standalone\u00a0Super Mario 3D World<\/em> Switch port<\/a> is rumored as well, with the belief that these games will be released as a way to celebrate the\u00a0Super Mario<\/em> franchise’s 35th anniversary.<\/p>\n

Another rumor making the rounds suggests that the Nintendo Direct could confirm that the Switch is getting a port of\u00a0The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword<\/em>. A listing for a Switch version of\u00a0Skyward Sword<\/em><\/a> appeared on Amazon UK before being taken down, lending credibility to that particular rumor.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, reports have indicated that an upgraded Switch console is in active development for release in 2021, and that Nintendo is actually planning to release a slew of games around that system’s release date. If so, maybe Nintendo will use the rumored September Nintendo Direct presentation to properly announce the new console. Whatever the case may be, here’s hoping the long-awaited Nintendo Direct happens sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n
