Naughty Dog\u00a0has created some of the most iconic characters in PlayStation history<\/a>,\u00a0such as Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, Joel and Ellie, and Nathan Drake. The studio is well known for crafting well-rounded, engaging characters that fans can become immensely attached to. Now one fan has explored the possibilities of what could happen when combining two of Naughty Dog’s best characters into one person.<\/p>\n

Uncharted<\/em> and The Last of Us<\/em> are some of Naughty Dog’s biggest gaming franchises which brought to the screen two iconic male protagonists, Nathan Drake<\/a> and Joel Miller. Played by Nolan North (Drake) and Troy Baker (Joel), both characters came to life thanks to a combination of sharp writing, nuanced performances and excellent character animations.\u00a0Many gamers would love to see Nathan and Joel in a game together one day, but fusing them into one person may be the next best thing.<\/p>\n

Using FaceApp, u\/Anthrophantasma on reddit has combined stills of Joel and Nathan to create a whole new character. The result is unnerving, showing equal parts Joel and Nathan in a very\u00a0lifelike portrayal and the new hero received plenty of support in the comments section. The image is a testament to Naughty Dog’s realistic character creation and facial animations, which are some of the best\u00a0in video games as can be seen in The Last of Us 2<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

At this point Naughty Dog’s next project is a mystery, so it’s uncertain whether Joel or Nathan will be seen in a video game again.\u00a0It’s unlikely Joel will make another appearance thanks to the events of The Last of Us 2<\/em><\/a>\u00a0but there is potential that another Uncharted<\/em> game could be released in the future, although whether Nathan Drake will be the main protagonist is up in the air.\u00a0Fans shouldn’t worry though, because\u00a0Nathan Drake will be seen again in the upcoming Uncharted<\/em> movie.<\/p>\n

It seems even more unlikely that the two characters will ever appear in a game together, although Nathan Drake was one of a range of playable characters in 2012’s PlayStation All Stars: Battle Royale<\/em><\/a>. If PlayStation ever decided to\u00a0revive\u00a0the battle royale game it’s possible that Nathan and Joel could be amongst the cast of characters, which would allow them to share the screen for the first time.<\/p>\n

That being said, actors Nolan North and Troy Baker have crossed over in each other’s franchises\u00a0quite frequently. Baker appeared in Uncharted 4<\/em> as Nathan Drake’s brother Sam, and North played the villainous David in The Last of Us<\/em>. The pair will work together again on the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers<\/em><\/a>, voicing Hulk and Iron Man and offscreen they also host a YouTube ‘Let’s Play’ series titled Retro Replay<\/em>.<\/p>\n
