Following months of rumors about the game’s return, Nintendo officially announced that\u00a0Pikmin 3\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>would be heading to the Nintendo Switch in a “Deluxe<\/em>” bundle, featuring all the title’s DLC\u00a0alongside additional bonus missions. The downside of the new port is that the game mysteriously disappeared from the\u00a0Wii U eShop<\/a>, prompting many to theorize that the company was trying to force new fans of the series to buy it on the Switch for full price.<\/p>\n

It seems that theory was false, with Nintendo reinstating the game on the Wii U’s digital store today.\u00a0Pikmin 3<\/a><\/em> is now available to purchase once more on its original console, with players able to grab a\u00a0digital copy of the 2013 smash hit for the affordable price of $19.99.<\/p>\n

Of course, it’s a much more\u00a0modest\u00a0price tag than the upcoming Pikmin 3 Deluxe<\/em><\/a>\u00a0coming to Switch, with Nintendo marketing the port at $59.99. With that in mind, those who are looking to\u00a0get\u00a0into the third entry in the adorable Nintendo franchise but aren’t too concerned about having it in better quality and with some brand new content should consider the cheaper Wii U edition.<\/p>\n

Of course, many will likely just be happy that the game is back on the console, with its mysterious disappearance\u00a0causing a fair amount of controversy earlier this month. Many were frustrated that Nintendo would essentially punish Wii U players by disallowing them to buy the original, cheaper copy of the game, forcing them to scale up and fork out $60 for a Switch ported alternative. As a result, its removal was labeled a very anti-consumer statement by Nintendo<\/a>,\u00a0so it’s good to see the game return.<\/p>\n

Of course, that hasn’t stopped people from being relatively angry at the company for offering\u00a0Pikmin 3: Deluxe Edition\u00a0<\/em>regardless, with some claiming the company is only re-releasing old games because they haven’t got a marquee title to close out the year. In truth, Nintendo does seem to be struggling with its lineup of fresh, first-party games this holiday season, but it’s worth remembering that the\u00a0company is struggling with the effects of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

In return, it seems players will be sinking into some of the company’s best games this fall instead, with Nintendo announcing yesterday that\u00a0Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<\/a>Super Mario Galaxy<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>would all be hitting the Switch in just two weeks time. Although they might not be entirely new, there’s no denying that Nintendo is giving fans some solid classics\u00a0to enjoy as this year comes to a close.<\/p>\n

Pikmin 3 Deluxe\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is set to release on October 30, 2020, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n
