However, Epic Games&#8217; feud with Apple is far from over, and that lawsuit hangs over the community like a dark cloud.<\/p>\n<p>At this point, most\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/fortnite\/\">Fortnite<\/a><\/em>\u00a0players are familiar with Epic&#8217;s fight with Apple and Google, which started when Epic protested the App Store and Play Store&#8217;s 30% revenue fees and skirted the policy to sell V-Bucks directly to players, resulting in both Apple and Google booting\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> from their stores. <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/epic-games-lawsuit-apple-google-explained\/\">Epic immediately sued Apple and Google<\/a>, and while the lawsuit is still underway, Epic is already seeing a major loss in the form of losing over 60% of its\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> iPhone players.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"related-single\">RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/court-deals-major-blow-epic-games-fight-apple\/\">Court Deals First Major Blow in Epic Games&#8217; Fight Against Apple<\/a><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-players-ios\/\"><em>Fortnite<\/em> players are still holding onto the iOS app<\/a>, and iPhones with the game downloaded onto the device are reportedly selling for a high price online. However, this doesn&#8217;t change the fact that over half of the iOS player base either chose to delete the app after the showdown started, or had deleted the app previously and are now unable to download it from the App Store. iPhone software prevents users from downloading apps through third-party services, so if\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> isn&#8217;t on the store, there&#8217;s no way to put it on one&#8217;s iPhone now.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EpicNewsroom\/status\/1302131290259349505?ref_src=https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-ios-playerbase-loss-dispute\/twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1302131290259349505%7Ctwgr%5Eshare_3&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dualshockers.com%2Ffortnite-apple-iphone-epic-games-lawsuit-download-free-drama%2F%22 frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>One answer to why active\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> players who use iPhones might choose to delete the app is because iOS users who are lucky enough to have the app are getting an un-updated, lower quality version of the game since Epic is blocked from adding major updates. These players won&#8217;t be getting the popular Marvel-themed <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/fortnite-season-4-apple-ios-devices-epic-games\/\">Season 4 of <em>Fortnite<\/em> on iPhone<\/a>, so they may be choosing to play the game on other platforms or just giving up and waiting until either party buckles and\u00a0<em>Fortnite<\/em> comes back to Apple (if that even happens).<\/p>\n<p>Epic is citing these numbers in its lawsuit in an attempt to prove the &#8220;irreparable damage&#8221; Apple is wreaking on its opponent, and it&#8217;s important to note that it isn&#8217;t reporting the probable subsequent growth in Nintendo Switch, PS4, and other platforms from the inevitable influx of players leaving iOS for another device.<\/p>\n<p>Android users have slightly more luck right now, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/fortnite-epic-apple-google-android-apk\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Fortnite<\/em> is available through other ways than the Google Play Store<\/a> for many users.
