The upcoming launch of Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong> is close. With only a few months\u00a0to go, developers CD Projekt RED has promised that\u00a0Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>\u00a0will not be delayed again<\/a>, feeling confident in the game’s development.<\/p>\n

It’s no secret that Cyberpunk 2077<\/a><\/em>\u00a0has been in some form of development as early as 2013,\u00a0well before the release of the developer’s other popular game, The Witcher 3<\/em>. With a long development cycle comes a lot of man hours put into the gameplay mechanics,\u00a0RPG systems, and industry leading visuals, ultimately\u00a0equating to a huge financial investment by the developer until the final release of the game.<\/p>\n

Recently it was revealed in a corporate report that CD Projekt RED has\u00a0spent over $121 million in the development of Cyberpunk 2077<\/em>. The costs involved in the development of the game include rebuilding the engine, hiring an A-list voice cast, and promotional material, such as the Night City Wire development diaries showcasing trailers<\/a> of the game leading up to the November release.<\/p>\n

In addition, the developer confirmed that the delay of the game has driven up costs\u00a0up to 77% in 2020, though the work from home mandates due to Covid-19 certainly hasn’t helped. Covid-19 has had a huge impact on the games industry as a whole with several games being delayed due to the impact of the virus<\/a>. Several publishers have also resorted to online-focused events to promote upcoming games that would normally have a hands-on\u00a0experience at conventions or publisher specific events over the summer.<\/p>\n

CD Projekt RED is gearing up for the release of Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> indicating\u00a0that PC specs for the game would soon be revealed. Cyberpunk<\/em> 2077 looks to be an immense game, but the developer has promised the file size will not exceed 200 GB<\/a> and more closely resemble The Witcher 3<\/em> in required HDD space. Recently, CD Projekt Red\u00a0partnered up with NVIDIA releasing a trailer showing off the game’s\u00a0use\u00a0of ray tracing and DLSS\u00a0on the PC.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, a recent investors call for CD Projekt RED indicated\u00a0that DLC plans for Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> will be much like the developers prior game, The Witcher 3<\/em>.\u00a0Though no further details were given regarding the DLC, it was promised that\u00a0more information focusing on major expansions and free\u00a0DLC for Cyberpunk 2077<\/em> would be revealed soon<\/a>, before the game’s official release. The major expansions are said to be in size and scope to The Witcher 3<\/em>, which itself received 2 story-focused expansions along with a host of\u00a0smaller DLC focusing on armor, side quests and weapons.<\/p>\n

Cyberpunk 2077<\/em><\/strong> launches on November 19 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions coming at a later date.<\/p>\n
