Minecraft<\/strong><\/em> is the game that just will not die, with popular content updates being a large part of why Mojang has kept the game a success for so long. With well-received patches for all Minecraft<\/em><\/a> fans like the Nether Update a few months back, Mojang has now turned its attention to the PlayStation 4 platform and, more specifically, PlayStation VR.<\/p>\n

While PlayStation VR\u2019s current version may not be strong enough to run games like Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond<\/em><\/a>, it is still nice to see some support for Sony\u2019s first foray into VR technology. Within a PS blog post, Mojang developer Roger Carpenter detailed the update. He ensured that the VR version of the game is the full, traditional Minecraft<\/em> experience within virtual reality.<\/p>\n

Carpenter went on to confirm additional settings for the VR version so that players can refine the experience, as well as two modes. While not explained in the post, the names of the modes are Living Room and Immersive. Living Room is likely more akin to the base version of Minecraft<\/em>, while Immersive could possibly remove the HUD and tool bar. The latter of these two modes sounds interesting and likely would have been even cooler if the realistic texture pack had not been canceled, though fans have done their best to\u00a0recreate this specific Minecraft<\/em> texture pack<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Allowing people to further immerse themselves in the Minecraft<\/em> worlds they have built is an incredibly fun prospect, and the concept of Minecraft<\/em> VR is on par with that of No Man\u2019s Sky\u2019s<\/em> Virtual Reality exploration. Seeing different worlds built by players around the world is a thrilling idea, and with skilled creators even remaking entire games like Destiny 2<\/em> in Minecraft<\/em><\/a>, players exploring their favorite fictional realms and cities becomes possible. Minecraft<\/em> and the near limitless potential the game offers truly is a perfect fit for VR.<\/p>\n

Carpenter also confirms within the post that the update will be coming later in September, meaning that players are a few weeks away at most from accessing the VR version of Minecraft<\/em>. Perhaps music duo Disclosure will promote their album in Minecraft<\/em><\/a>\u00a0VR now, as the original promotion was an extremely interesting use of Minecraft <\/em>content creation. Regardless, those with PSVR will not have to wait long to try out the Living Room and Immersive modes coming with the update.<\/p>\n

For those less interested in VR versions of Minecraft<\/em>, the upcoming Minecraft<\/em> Live event<\/a> should prove to be an interesting source for news. The event is this year\u2019s alternative to Minecon and confirms a new mob, showing that Mojang still has plenty of plans for the ever-growing building game.<\/p>\n
