Eric Barone’s Stardew Valley<\/strong><\/em> is an indie darling that has retained a large following in-part thanks to consistent updates. In fact, the creator recently teased new content coming\u00a0in Stardew Valley<\/em>‘s 1.5 update<\/a>\u00a0like usable benches and swimming\u00a0ducks. But that doesn’t mean players are not interested in adding their own spin on the farming\/life simulator.<\/p>\n

A Stardew Valley<\/em><\/a> fan named FastestBoi created the “Legendary Movies” mod that adds Joker<\/em> (2019) and The Godfather<\/em> (1972) as options in Pelican Town’s movie theater \u2014 a late-game area that can be unlocked after completing the Community Center. The theater has\u00a0a number of movies based on different genres, from animated family comedies to documentaries, but it’s hard to say any of them would stack up to Francis Ford Coppola’s classic American film.<\/p>\n

In order to use FastestBoi’s\u00a0mod, players will need to download a “Custom Movies” mod created by Platonymous first. There are plans to potentially add films like The Godfather 2<\/em>, Star Wars<\/em>, and Finding Nemo<\/em><\/a> during different in-game seasons, though\u00a0FastestBoi said they will remove the mod if it turns out to be violating any copyright laws, despite them not claiming ownership or making any money.<\/p>\n

A mod adding movies to watch in Stardew Valley<\/em> feels particularly well timed given the circumstances around theater re-openings due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. While some have begun to re-open and show films like Christopher Nolan’s Tenet<\/em>, and the state of New Jersey even let people go to the movies for Labor Day<\/a>\u00a0at a limited capacity, much of the United States in particular is still locked down to protect people’s health.<\/p>\n

This is the second mod FastestBoi has created for Stardew Valley<\/em>, following up an “Additional Weapons” set\u00a0uploaded to Nexus Mods in August that adds melee weapons like baseball bats and different swords from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles<\/em>. Modding communities for various games have a long history of creating new tools and mechanics for players to use, such as a mod giving Geralt of Rivia guns in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

That players are dedicated enough to create mods adding things like movies to see in\u00a0Stardew Valley<\/em>\u00a0is just one indication of its continual success. Earlier this year, a physical collector’s edition of Stardew Valley<\/em> for Switch<\/a> was released by Fangamer, which included extra goodies like a comic book and wooden standee.<\/p>\n

Stardew Valley<\/strong><\/em> is available now for\u00a0Android, iOS, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.<\/p>\n
