The latest\u00a0Red Dead Online<\/em><\/strong> update drops today and it has some new content for players interested in the Wild West’s flora and fauna.\u00a0Earlier this year, the game added a new role with the Naturalist update<\/a>\u00a0that\u00a0focuses on wildlife, and that focus continues with a new Legendary Animal and more in today’s update.<\/p>\n

Pursuing the Naturalist role in Red Dead Online<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>allows players to help out animal-lover Harriet, who will shame\u00a0Naturalists for hunting<\/a>, and Gus, who is the complete opposite and loves hunting down, killing, and skinning prey in the game. Although Harriet’s reaction to hunting is mostly played as a joke, she does give the player access to useful Legendary Animal Sighting Missions, the latest subject of these being the Legendary Shadow Buck.<\/p>\n

Legendary Animals in Red Dead Online<\/a>\u00a0allow the player to track special animals and bring back samples to Harriet or pelts to Gus, and the Shadow Buck is no different. Players interested in hunting down the mysterious deer can talk to Harriet in her shop, and then go find the buck in the Annesburg area. If they choose to sedate the animal and bring samples to Harriet, they will get their choice of a free vest along with 100x sedative ammo.<\/p>\n

If players wish to go down the hunting route and bring the Legendary Shadow Buck<\/a>‘s carcass to Gus, however, they can get a different prize: 100x Express Repeater Ammo. If that sounds like less of a prize than Harriet’s, players should keep in mind that giving the hide to Gus will allow him to make it into a Shadow Coat that he will sell at his store, which players can then purchase. If the player chooses to craft a coat at Gus’s store, they will get a free bandolier too.<\/p>\n

Also, Naturalists who are Level 5 or higher can go to Harriet for a Buck Vitalism Studies Pamphlet, and if they complete the studies they can get an “out-of-body-experience” from a strange herb she’s found, as well as a free Red Dead<\/em> Treasure Map<\/a>. Other updates include a free hat for winners of the Hardcore Takeover Series, various discounts, and benefits for those who’ve linked their Rockstar Social Club account to Prime Gaming such as Naturalist XP and a free Wilderness Camp.<\/p>\n

As the Naturalist update is so recent, it makes sense that a lot of recent content has been centered around missions for Gus and Harriet, and luckily players who are enjoying these missions are able to get cool rewards and unique items in addition to the thrill of in-game hunting.<\/p>\n

Red Dead Redemption 2\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>is available on\u00a0PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.<\/p>\n
