Years have passed since it last received a proper new entry or any real hint of one, yet throughout 2020 it\u2019s been popping up in random places, like in a <em>For Honor<\/em> crossover event or a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/prince-of-persia-the-dagger-of-time-new-trailer\/\">VR escape room game<\/a>. Rumor has it that this is all building up to the reveal of a brand new game this week, but if the latest word is to be believed, it won\u2019t be coming to at least one of the platforms the rumors said it would.<\/p>\n<p>There have been a few leaks in the past few months suggesting the Prince may be making a return, potentially in the form of a remake of 2003\u2019s <em>The Sands of Time<\/em>. Things picked up in mid-August with the discovery of retail listings for this alleged remake. Then, just last week, Bloomberg\u2019s Jason Schreier claimed that Ubisoft will finally unveil the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/ubisoft-prince-persia-remake-rumor\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> new <em>Prince of Persia<\/em>\u00a0at the next Ubisoft Forward<\/a>, which\u00a0is\u00a0airing this Thursday.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/prince-of-persia-6-leak-fake\/\">Prince of Persia 6 Leak Might Be Fake<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Schreier&#8217;s claims continue off of earlier claims\u00a0that the remake will be launching sometime in November for the PS4 and the Switch. This got people thinking earlier today, when Twitter user Andrew Marmo was discovered for a blank Amazon <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/amazon-france-game-listings-leak\/\">listing for a Ubisoft Switch game<\/a>. Given the timing, it could be possible that this listing could be for <em>Prince of Persia<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/the_marmolade\/status\/1303352355010809856\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>However, noted industry insider Daniel Ahmad says otherwise. Replying to Marmo\u2019s tweet, he states that the blank listing\u2019s game isn\u2019t the <em>Prince of Persia<\/em> remake but <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/gods-monsters-officially-renamed-immortals-fenyx-rising-ubisoft-forward\/\"><em>Immortals: Fenyx Rising<\/em>, a Switch-bound game<\/a> that has been confirmed for Ubisoft Forward. In fact, Ahmad goes on to say that the remake isn\u2019t coming to the Switch at all, while also shooting down the retail listings&#8217; claims about it it launching in November.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZhugeEX\/status\/1303359025266987010\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s not too surprising, as the November launch window was a bit dubious from the start, what with that being when <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/assassins-creed-esrb-rating-brothels-hallucinogenics\/\">Ubisoft is launching <em>Assassin\u2019s Creed Valhalla<\/em><\/a>. But what\u2019s interesting to note is that Ahmad, despite shooting down the claims of a Switch version, didn\u2019t do the same for the alleged PS4 version, or Schreier&#8217;s\u00a0Ubisoft Forward tease. This suggests that the new <em>Prince of Persia<\/em>, if it does in fact exist, could very well be announced for that system this week.<\/p>\n<p>Speculating further, it\u2019s possible that the lack of a Switch port means Ubisoft could be developing a larger game than it can easily fit on that console. Rather than merely polishing up an older game like\u00a0<em>The Sands of Time<\/em>, this remake could be a full-on reimagining designed with current-gen (and maybe even next-gen) consoles in mind.
