While players are prepping for cross-gen upgrades of current titles,\u00a0it seems that another independent game will be offering the same deal.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom<\/strong><\/em> is officially coming to the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series platforms.\u00a0Publisher FDG Entertainment confirmed that the 2018 action platformer would not only be getting a port, but owners of the current gen version would be getting the upgrade for free.\u00a0According to Gematsu, the\u00a0publisher alongside developer Game Atelier confirmed that purchases within the same family of consoles will receive the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/marvels-avengers-free-ps5-upgrade-2020-sony-playstation\/\">PlayStation Confirms Another Free Upgrade PS5 Game<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Yet FDG Entertainment\u00a0further explained that <em>Monster Boy and The Cursed Kingdom<\/em>&#8216;s release was not simply just a port, but that the game&#8217;s next gen version would see a big upgrade. In the tweet confirming the new releases, the\u00a0publisher stated that the new versions would support native 4K resolution and 120fps via HDMI 2.1.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FDG_Games\/status\/1303438434950938624?\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Monster Boy and The Cursed Kingdom<\/em> was positively received upon release and was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/decembers-biggest-video-games-ranked-metacritic-score\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">one of the highest rated games of the month<\/a> when it released\u00a0PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in\u00a0December of 2018.\u00a0The publisher also teased the idea of utilizing the haptic sensor functionality in the PS5&#8217;s DualSense controller.<\/p>\n<p>So with FDG Entertainment planning the next jump for the franchise, some fans might still be hurt that another project pitched by the publisher didn&#8217;t materialize. It was on April 1\u00a0that the publisher uploaded an <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/new-ducktales-video-game-fake\/\">announcement for a new <em>Ducktales<\/em> game<\/a>. It wasn&#8217;t long until the publisher admitted that it\u00a0was just a joke based on a pitch.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom<\/strong><\/em> is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia.
