Metroid Prime 4<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0developer Retro Studios has hired developer Dylan Jobe\u00a0to be\u00a0part of the development of Metroid Prime 4<\/a>, <\/em>according to Video Games Chronicle (VGC).<\/p>\n

Hired on as a director of development, Jobe previously worked on major titles such as Doom <\/em>(2016), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare<\/em>, and Twisted Metal: Black<\/em>. Jobe’s hiring follows a mass spree in Retro Studios earlier in the year, and as of August the developer was also seeking a new lead producer<\/a>\u00a0for Metroid Prime 4<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the year, Twitter user New_WabiSabi, who has correctly leaked information on games in the past, said\u00a0a new Paper Mario<\/em>\u00a0and Metroid<\/em> game would be announced and released in 2020<\/a>. Since then, Paper Mario: The Origami King<\/em> has been announced and released for the Switch. It should be noted that the leak came before the\u00a0impact of the coronavirus\u00a0pandemic could really be felt, as it has altered\u00a0the development and release of many titles.<\/p>\n

Since its reveal in 2017, Metroid Prime 4<\/em> has had a storied development<\/a> with a few changes happening behind the scenes. Originally in the hands of Bandai Namco Singapore, the game had\u00a0long-time series producer Kensuke Tanabe attached, but news about\u00a0the game went\u00a0silent for over a year. Rumors spread about\u00a0development issues behind the scenes, which Nintendo later dissuaded saying\u00a0development was going smoothly.<\/p>\n

However, in 2019 it was revealed that development had been\u00a0moved back to Retro Studios<\/a>\u00a0and restarted. Retro Studios has a long history with the franchise having developed\u00a0Metroid Prime<\/em> on the GameCube in 2002.\u00a0The developer worked on two sequels for the series before moving on to other projects. In 2010\u00a0Metroid: Other M<\/em> was released by Team Ninja,\u00a0attempting to bring the series back to its side-scrolling roots with very little emphasis on the first-person gameplay of\u00a0Metroid Prime<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The possibility of the Metroid Prime Trilogy<\/em> being brought over to the Nintendo Switch<\/a> has also long been rumored through\u00a0retailers listing, and quick\u00a0removals of the game from updated lists. Though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, it would fit Nintendo’s recent history of bringing over other games in series with a new entry\u00a0in development. Both\u00a0Bayonetta 1 and 2<\/em> were brought over to the Switch in anticipation of Bayonetta 3<\/em>, which is currently in development at Platinum Games.<\/p>\n

Metroid Prime 4<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0is in development exclusively for\u00a0the Nintendo Switch<\/p>\n
