In just a couple of months, fans will finally be able to get their hands on the long-awaited\u00a0Xbox Series X. The console has been teased for a while, but fans won’t have to wait much longer. However, for how much fans are excited, there is one aspect of the Xbox Series X<\/a>‘s console design\u00a0that some gamers are unsure about.<\/p>\n

While many in the gaming community prefer to store their consoles horizontally, the Series X has a stand on the bottom that cannot be removed, which is intended for storing the console vertically. This led many to believe that the console could not be stored horizontally, which was also a concern when the\u00a0PlayStation 5<\/a>\u00a0design was first unveiled, but was quickly resolved. For a number of people in the gaming community, storing the console in an upright position isn’t accomodating, but apparently Microsoft has a good reason for encouraging the placement.<\/p>\n

In the past, some Xbox consoles have had problems with overheating. The first Xbox 360\u00a0frequently overheated, causing the console to display two red lights over the console’s power button. This was colloquially referred to as the Red Ring of Death<\/a> and was an issue for numerous console owners during that console generation. However, Microsoft has found a way to fix this problem with the Xbox Series X.<\/p>\n

By having the console stand vertically and having the stand curve ever so slightly upward, it allows air to get sucked into the console from the bottom, which is then passed over the internal components, and finally vented outward from the top of the console. Hopefully, this will avoid any and all problems that may arise from certain games requiring large amounts of processing power, such as the case with\u00a0Borderlands 3<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n
