With Microsoft having finally revealed the price tag and release date of the Xbox Series X, as well as the Xbox Series S<\/a>, attention has turned to Sony<\/strong> as fans wonder when\u00a0they will do the same. The company has been relatively silent when it comes to announcing firm details about the\u00a0launch of the\u00a0PlayStation 5.<\/p>\n

However, the company\u00a0might have something in the works for next week, as\u00a0a mysterious online PAX<\/a> panel from the major console manufacturer is apparently being\u00a0planned for September 18. What the show will center around is yet to be announced, as\u00a0the event is titled “Sony Holder” on the official PAX schedule as of this writing.<\/p>\n

The timing is interesting\u00a0given\u00a0Microsoft’s announcement came earlier this week, so\u00a0it seems like the perfect time for Sony to\u00a0set the record straight and announce the\u00a0cost and release date\u00a0of its\u00a0next-generation hardware. There are a few other things Sony could stand\u00a0to clarify as the release of the PlayStation 5<\/a> draws closer, including talking more about its day one\u00a0launch line-up.<\/p>\n

While fans know\u00a0Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>is on its way, there are few details\u00a0about what players can expect from it. Meanwhile, numerous rumors have\u00a0touted the existence of\u00a0another launch game that’s yet to be revealed. Perhaps this PAX broadcast is a chance for PlayStation to finally\u00a0unveil\u00a0what early-adopters can expect when getting their console\u00a0at the beginning of\u00a0its life-cycle.<\/p>\n

Alongside Sony, a number of studios\u00a0will be attending the event, with Square Enix, CD Projekt Red, and Nintendo set to show up at PAX. Some of the events\u00a0on its\u00a0schedule offer unique insights into the industry’s biggest games and the people who surround them, with there set to be a\u00a0Legend of Zelda<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>concert and a playthrough of\u00a0Detroit: Become Human\u00a0<\/em>with Quantic Dream across the week-long event. Hopefully, Sony will round things out with something to be remembered, whether it’s\u00a0a release date and price point or a panel with some of its biggest names.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0leak surrounding the Xbox Series S threw things into chaos for Microsoft this week, and the company wound up finally announcing the Xbox Series X’s price<\/a> and release date as a result. The console will launch in November for $499, while the more affordable Series S will retail for $299. It’ll be interesting to see how Sony<\/strong>‘s PlayStation 5 compares to\u00a0Microsoft’s approach.<\/p>\n

PAX Online will take place digitally from September 12 to 20, 2020.<\/p>\n
