Wasteland 3<\/strong><\/em> is two things first and foremost: a strategy game and a story-driven game. While Wasteland 3<\/em>‘s co-op\u00a0is problematic<\/a>, the singleplayer experience has a lot to love. The thematic elements of the game add a lot to its flavor, from the zany humor to the cybernetic modifications.<\/p>\n

There are many ways to modify characters as they progress through\u00a0Wasteland 3<\/a><\/em>. Usually, this just means a few points into different stats, a perk to determine the direction of a build, or a quirk to define a character. But one perk in particular bears special mention: Cyborg Tech. This rare perk transforms a character into a Cyborg and allows them to equip Cyborg Mods. Here’s how to get the Cyborg Tech perk, and a little bit about the mods and what they do.<\/p>\n

The first step in becoming a Cyborg is finding the Machine Commune. Once\u00a0one does, they should seek out Vivisecto, RN, a machine doctor. After speaking with him, the player must complete the subsequent Counterintelligence mission.<\/p>\n

Once completed, the Cyborg Tech Control Unit will be available for purchase from Vivisecto. It costs $1,024, so players\u00a0should be sure they have enough to be safe. After that, just use the Cyborg Tech Control Unit on a character to give them the Cyborg Tech perk. Regardless of the ethics of synths in Wasteland 3<\/em><\/a>, this will unlock powerful options for the character in question.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the Cyborg Mods are entirely their own entities. Each one must be found or purchased separately, and they can only be used by a character with Cyborg Tech. They are also completely separate from Wasteland 3<\/em>‘s Cyborg Chickens<\/a>, although there’s no reason a character can’t make use of both. The Mods are Utility items, with either passive or active effects.<\/p>\n

Highlights of these mods include the\u00a0Optilaser 9000, which grants the character the ability to shoot lasers. Another is the Nociception Clamp, which makes the character immune to crits at the cost of staying down longer.<\/p>\n

The Cyborg Mods are an eclectic collection of bonuses, and should be used carefully. Simple boosts in Wasteland 3<\/em>‘s Attributes<\/a> are not the name of the game with these. They should be used with specific builds to make them even more powerful.<\/p>\n

For example, the Subdermal Plating, which grants armor, could be great for a melee build. The Liver Box gives health regen, which would be great for a Flamethrower build, easily one of the best Wasteland 3<\/em> builds<\/a>. By contrast, the EMP Cylinder could stun a foe getting too close to a Sniper. There’s a lot to try, so players should experiment.<\/p>\n

Wasteland 3<\/strong><\/em> is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.<\/p>\n
