However, Sony still has yet to pull the trigger and reveal when fans can get their hands on the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/tag\/ps5\/\">PS5<\/a> or how much its next-generation console will cost. That information still isn&#8217;t available at the time of this writing, but Sony has announced the next PlayStation 5 Showcase, which means fans may finally get their answers next week.<\/p>\n<p>Sony has announced the next PS5 Showcase event for Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm Pacific. The broadcast will be focused on showing off some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-demon-souls-launch-title\/\">PlayStation 5 launch titles<\/a>, as well as featuring some games that will be available for the system after launch. It\u00a0will be about\u00a040 minutes long, and fans can expect to get a look at titles from first-party studios as well as third-party developers.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"related-single\"><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps4-box-art-ps5-upgrade-update\/\">PS4 Box Art Updated for PS5 Upgrade Games<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s also quite likely that the PlayStation 5 Showcase will feature the long-awaited price and release date announcement for both the standard PS5 console as well as the PS5 Digital Edition. While nothing official has been announced by Sony to date, a recent report has said that the <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/ps5-price-point-leaked-xbox-series-x-comparison\/\">planned PS5 price has been slashed<\/a> in response to Microsoft&#8217;s Xbox Series S and X pricing announcement. If that report is to be believed, the standard PS5 will cost $499, whereas the PS5 Digital Edition will retail for $399. As for when the consoles will launch, the latest leaks and rumors seem to stick to either Tuesday, November 17, or Friday, November 20, both of which seem plausible.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"320\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlayStation\/status\/1304768250400530432\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Sony will also likely announce when <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/24k-gold-ps5-pre-orders-available-expensive\/\">PS5 pre-orders<\/a> will be available during its September 16 PS5 Showcase event. Microsoft has announced that Xbox Series X pre-orders start on September 22, so it will be interesting to see if Sony tries to get out ahead of the competition by making PS5 pre-orders go live earlier than that. It remains to be seen, but fans should get their pre-order plans ready, as the PS5 is expected to be in short supply this holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>As for what games Sony will show at the PS5 Showcase event, it seems like a safe bet that major holiday 2020 titles like\u00a0<em>Spider-Man: Miles Morales<\/em>\u00a0will be on display. Sony may also give fans another look at titles like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegamer.com\/ratchet-clank-rift-apart-60-fps-option\/\"  rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Ratchet &amp; Clank: Rift Apart<\/em><\/a> and\u00a0<em>Horizon Forbidden West<\/em>. Third-party games like\u00a0<em>Resident Evil 8<\/em>\u00a0are also a possibility, though Capcom may be saving its upcoming survival-horror game for the Tokyo Game Show at the end of the month instead.<\/p>\n<p>There have been consistent rumors that a <a href=\"https:\/\/gamerant.com\/silent-hill-ps5-exclusive-reveal-when\/\">secret\u00a0<em>Silent Hill<\/em> PS5 exclusive<\/a> is in active development, so maybe fans will get confirmation on that come September 16 at 1pm PT.
